    How I design my knives....

Nothing hi tech but I thought I show what I use to draw out my designs.

I'm not one of those guys that can just grab a piece of steel and start grinding. I have to have a very clear image of what I want to do so I draw every design to scale.

Below are some pics of designs I drew out early this morning....

The tool kit, pencils, sharpies, compass, triangle, french curves and erasers.

With a straight edge, compass and the french curves, anyone can draw out detailed scale designs. The french curves are very helpfull as just about any radius or curve you could ever need to draw is represented. All you have to do is set it where you want it and trace around it...

I draw on 11X17 graph paper. The graph paper makes it easy to redesign and modify while keeping scale when you draw a shitty looking knife like the one second from the top in this pic... I'm digging number 1 and 3 (whatya think Kris?)

    A few more....

Larger knives, cleaver and a filework pattern I'm working on for someone here (let me know what you think brother)

    Maybe !?....

thanks for looking, comments, criticisms and questions welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to draw those up for me buddy.

    1&3 are both champions.

Now the hard part, what design shall we go with.....

The battle AX sketch looks like it will be quite tasty as well.

And the MO blade list consitnues to grow daily...

hey MO, you might want to consider a cad program for drawing. i used to handdraw everything, and make a blank of the design to hang on the wall, but they started taking up too much wall space. the cardboard blanks are nice for the first two uses, but then they get boogered up and you gotta go back and draw them out again. with the cad program, its all stored on your hard drive, cd,or flashcard. plus if you want anything waterjet cut you just email them the file, instead of mailing the blank for them to scan in. if you want to know the program i use just pm me. its easy to learn and only cost about $150.00

    That sounds cool.

Were you able to teach yourself how to use it?

    or what I do is:

I sketch them out by hand very much like you do, and then scan the drawing into the computer, voila permanent reproductions exactly to scale.

So you guys are telling me I can get rid of the feather pen and ink bottle?

Sounds cool. I've been wanting to try a CAD program but not knowing shit about them has made me keep putting it off.

I'll have to brush up on addition and subtraction

    Thanks guys,

When you can't run anymore, you crawl

if you can't crawl, you find somebody to carry you.

    Thanks brother!

If I could just grab a piece of steel and make bad ass shit happen like you do I wouldn't bother. Everytime I try I get to add another pice to the scrap bucket.
