WANTED: Price quote on a custom design

Hey makers, I drew up this design of a knife (dubbed "camper's envy") and I need some quotes to get it made, it's going to be a user not a show piece. Also, if you are interested in working out a barter deal for some graphic, logo or website work we can do that too.

i'm not a maker, but you should take your design to Himalayan Imports....


their usual knives are Khukuris, but they make all types of knives and even do customs based on customer designs....they do it for very cheap when compared with other custom makers....

they usually use 5160 for all their blades and i would say they use 5160 for 95% of all the blades they make, so they are very familiar with this steel....and they forge all their knives from used leaf springs from cars, so they are no stangers to forging...

also, they are used to differential hardening their blades, so that should be no problem...the only hassle might be that you would probably need to supply the handle material and the pins.....


they have a forum over on bladeforums and Yangdu is a great lady to work with....

i would venture to say that the blade you want would cost anywhere from $200-$300, and it would come with a lifetime warranty....

Centerfinger there are some awesome makers here pounding hot all the time. That will build you that sweet design looks to being a nice one, a good drawing not on a knapkin like I have got before, Check out the Devils own subforums a dosen makers there. You know your way around grapfic software I see do you CAD too. And good luck DB

Thanks for the kind words on my design. I have a few others, but this one begs to be forged and my others can be done via stock removal. I would like a JD maker to hammer this one out and I figured it would be easier to post up a request for pricing here, rather than hitting up individual makers one by one. I will go that route if I have no takers from this post.

I was hoping someone would want to add this bad boy to their line up, maybe its just bad timing.

Just a lot of local makers here.

You can sure save alot of $$$ in Asia But you cannot get the same knife IMO
