Best knife for 2008 so far: Chain San Mai Tanto - mini WIP

Some of you will remember this blade I finished about 2 months ago.

It's for a customer in Israel that wanted something like this one.

If you want to see how I made this one, check out this page:
    http://www.aescustomknives.com/docs/knifemaking.htm

But gave me free reign on the creative aspects of the project.

This is what I have so far (I'll get much better pictures once I finish the wooden scabbard)

    Bronze/stainless mokume habaki

    On the blade

Bronze/copper mokume tsuba and future micarta handles

    All future tanto parts

Habaki and tsuba on the blade

    Finished knife, tsuba/habaki detail

Spacer and decorative mosaic (bronze/stainless mokume) pin cover detail

    Full hande.

    Entire tanto

    In hand

    So I finished it

San mai damascus from a motorcycle chain with a 5160 core.
13 3/4" overall length, 8" cutting edge, 8 3/4" from tip to tsuba. 1/4" thickness. Hand made micarta handle. Bronze / stainless steel mokume habaki and decorative pins. Bronze / copper mokume tsuba. Dyed and lacquered maple saya.
