OK... the Preakness Stakes (the 2nd jewel in the Triple Crown) goes off this Saturday. I flunked miserably with my Kentucky Derby choice (lucky I didn't put any $$ on it). But I'm thinking of throwing something on the Preakness Stakes! Riley is the name of my niece's baby boy and Tucker is the name of one of my nephew's dogs. Riley Tucker meets all the qualifications for my hunch bet.

And at 40/1... how can I lose?

He looked good for about the first 1/2 mile but when Big Brown pulled up alongside, I knew I could kiss Riley Tucker goodbye! I think we have a very good chance to see a Triple Crown winner this year but dang nabit... I can't bet the favorite!

An Exacta, or a Trifecta is the way to go. A $2 Trifecta paid $336.

I didn't have anything on the race but would usually pick 6 horses (one of them being the favorite) and do a $1 key and wheel with the 2nd choice horse in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd and hope the big favorite runs out of the money. That runs $60. $2 Trifecta has to pay $120 just to break even. If I have a spare $60 come June 9th and the Belmont Stakes... I'll apply my logic.
