    SAK? Nah, I'll pass.

I could never learn to like a SAK. I have tried. Little ones, big ones and medium ones. They never last long in my pocket. I always go back to a "real" knife. Although, I do sometimes yearn for that little, tooth pick, always at the ready to be wiped clean of pocket lint and debris and used to dislodge a little food caught between the teeth!

+1 here... something about the name SAK turns me off... lol...

I usually just bite off a fingernail or toenail and use it for a toothpick...

if I need a screwdriver or whatever, I'll get up and get one instead of trying to make do with some dinky little tools...

they're like adjustable wrenches... cool idea... but thats about all.

I probably have 5 or 6 SAKs (one of them was given out as a Safety Award where I worked) but the closest I get to carrying something like one is a Leatherman Squirt on my key chain.

I usually end up giving away cheap(er) knives... I've owned a LOT of Bucks, SAKs, and Schrades and stuff... I like 'em, but I'll run into someone who strikes me well, and does not carry a knife... TERRIBLE!... so I feel it is my duty so at least TRY to show them what they hare missing out on... even if it is a small knife or a SAK or whatever...

I do still have the Vic that my sister bought me in Switzerland like 9 years ago... It has a blue handle... before I ever saw one like it in the states... She also had my name engraved on it... ARCH 99... She said that EVERYONE in Switzerland does that...

Personally, if I diddnt have one on me I'd buy another one... these are not exactly a "GO TO" tool, but they are handy when you dont wanna gunk up your Sebenza! ...or someone says... "arch, you always have a knife... can this guy use it??"

BTW... my current "give away" knife I carry in my manpurse is a Case small sodbuster... GREAT KNIFE... like $20, and SOMEONE will appreciate it... as a matter of fact... I think I'll igve it to my friend Maggie... She WAS admiring my Swamp Rat the other day!

I EDC a Cybertool everyday. It is a jack of all trades, and thus not ideal for any one task, but I sometimes can't get to the right tool for the job. It hides in my cell phone pouch, and is always ready for whatever. I just used the toothpick last night, and just used the bit driver to fix a door knob.

All that being said, I want the new Leatherman tool..

I EDC a Vic Handyman with a fauxton on the split ring.
Mostly used at work for opening boxes (blade), cutting up cardboard (blade), cutting out price tickets (scissors), tightening/loosening screws (screwdriver, duh!) & varoius other occasional tasks.
As most of the UK is gripped by anti-knife hysteria, its useful to carry a blade that doesnt freak out the natives.
Had an interesting chat with a Police Detective in my store regarding the likelihood of my being in trouble for carrying my usual three knives if searched by a British Bobby:-
    SAK Handyman
    SAK Minichamp (on keys)
    SAK Swisscard (in wallet)
He agreed that Id be fine, and that "someone like you" is unlikely to be "stopped & searched" anyway.
I told him that when I was recently pulled over by the Police for (stupidly!) not wearing my seatbelt, I was worried that IF the Officer had searched me I had a Buck Strider 889 in my pocket (locking folders are classed as fixed blades here in Englandistan!) & he agreed that I probably would have had some explaining to do even though he agreed that a locking folder is clearly safer to use.

Eddie: Yes, we've all 'been sensing your sort of musky smell' for nigh on
forty years! When will you buy another shirt?!

Richie: This is an original VanderHeussen!

Eddie: Yeah, it's THE original Veandy Hosen! Hasn't had a wash since 1963!

Richie: Well if you had the common decency, to go out and get yourself a
proper job and not hang around the flat all day like a vast slug,
then perhaps I would have the opportunity to take my top off and wash
it without the risk of you seeing my nipples!

I own several SAKs, and carry them fairly regularly. Like as has already been said, they are sheeple friendly and often pretty darn useful. My most common EDC SAK is probably my mechanic or the troubleshooter. Just enough tools to be useful without being huge. Of course I've always got a "real" knife on me as well.

I regularly carry a SAK, but I consider it a mini-tool chest rather than a knife. As in, there are SAKs, and there are knives. I also carry knives!

Although the Native Americans I used to live with considered a SAK the best knife becuz they were so sharp! Never could quite figure that out.....

its kind of a family tradition with me to carry SAK's, i always have at least the one on my keychain, and usually another besides.

theres a nice stainless scale one (believe its called the executive) that my dad has carried since the early 60's and all the boys in my family got one when they turned 18. i don't carry that one often, but its very special to me.

my VERY first knife was a SAK (the std boyscout one w/ scissors, file, blade) i still have it. broken blade, scales fell off, and all, and if god forbid they ever outlaw pocket knives, they'll have to kill me to take that one

I love SAKs, and always carry one. I hardly ever use them for cutting, though. I mostly use the scissors, the screwdrivers and the pliers. I find the toothpick to be ideal for cleaning lint out of knives.

I carry and use SAK's daily. I find them very useful when i'm at work (i'm a teacher) or in other situations where a decent folder turn heads.

+1 on the Cybertool. I carry it (a 29) every day, along with a small forum Sebbie. I can't believe how handy that little tool is, I love the bit driver. A coworker saw how much I used it and asked me to get him one. He too was surprised at how much he uses it. Next thing you know, another coworker got one. It really is a great little multi-tool.
