I had just finished my dinner at about 7pm and enjoying a nice hot cup of tea as I began to peruse the forums of JD. All of a sudden I 'hear' a "chirp" which seemed to come from my computer. Now I say 'hear' because since last year I am deaf as a doorknob. With my hearing aids in I can hear sounds... like the dog bark, doorbell ring, telephone ring and this damn "chirp" sound but I can't zero in on the direction! I'm totally confused by this "chirp" and start to shut the computer down but I'm still hearing this "chirp"! About every minute... "chirp"! So now I'm going nuts pulling electrical plugs out of the wall trying to stop the damn "chirping"! The dog wants to come in from outside so as I'm walking down the hallway to let him in... I hear the damn "chirp" again! I have a carbon monoxide gizmo in the living room so I check to see if that's making the "chirp"... that damn thing hasn't so much as moved off zero since I plugged it in last year! I let the dog in and as I'm walking down the hallway to the computer, I hear the crazy 'chirp' again! Now I'm thinking it's the fire alarm signalling that the 9 volt battery is low so I change the battery. No more "chirp"! YAY!!!! Now I have to buy some more 9 volt batteries and check the fire alarm up in the attic and the one in the basement.
