Say, the Surgeon PM'ed me about that tanto. Anybody got any info. I am thinking he took a NICA tanto and had that side plate custom made to add on. I am not aware of any other way to get a tanto. Anybody.........?

I emailed the seller, he said he took the blade from a NICA and swapped it with the regular blade on the custom handle.
You guys are right, the only Tantos were from NICA!!!
damn!
I will track down a tanto sebbie sooner or later!

that tanto still looks funny though. like it was ground down from a normal clip point blade. something about it sets me off.

It looks about like these, but I've never held one, so I am having to go off of these other pics. I was not able to find any pics from the perspective shown in the auction. Nobody seems to take pics looking at the leading edge of the blade. I did not look too long though.
