Hey Paisan,
It doesn't seem to have a negative effect on Del at all. I talk to him every other week or so and he was at the Wolverine Show in Novi, MI last weekend. Del is one of the most laid back and nicest persons I have ever met within the knife community. Surprisingly, I've met a lot of people too.
When I talk to him about damascus or knives you can genuinely hear the passion and love for his work - Ron he doesn't even make it sound like it is a job to him - more like something he really wants to do and is doing it.

Ron,
You gave me a bit of a shock by posting my name as the title of the thread. I had one of those half-second oh shit what did I do now moments as the the page loaded. I'm laughing to myself as I am writing it now thinking about it. I have been dealing with the guys at William Henry now for 18 months or so, and its been great for me. I went full-time in december last year and doing business with them is part of the reason that I am able to really make a go with it. I know that taking the leap can be scary for a lot of people, but for me it was not. It also has meant that I can spend some time making knives now along with making lots of damascus. I get more time to experiment with patterns and thats someting that is really a joy, especially when I get a real cool one on the first go. Its also cool that I get to spend more time with my family, I actually took my wife on a date last month, first time in over a year. (Buuko hubby points for that one)
Rene Roy was the guy who got me hooked on JD and it has helped. Thanks Ron and to all the guys who hang out here.
I was talking with a few guys at the wolverine show last weekend and as a result I'm making plans to do the Blade show next year.
Thanks,
Del

Thanks guys,
I just got home from making some more damascus, I really do like it. It is tiring, but it still doesn't seem like real work to me.
Then again real work has always had some $$&*$%&* telling me what I'm doing wrong. Since I work alone in my shop, its no worries.
I'm glad you guys like the stuff I make.
Thanks,
Del

It was great to see and talk to you at Wolverine. Despite all my efforts to actually sell knives - as some of you know I have quite an eclectic taste in custom knives...my only sale?

Hi Del,
You make some beautiful steel.
Have you decided what pattern and component steels you will use for the grind-off in October?
I know, too early to know. But I just thought I'd ask.
And by the way,
Thank You.
