Thumbs up Former N.J. RES., sings of home

    Sunday, 04 Feburary 07
    Hell'o,
This afternoon to early evening I listened to a former New Jersey resident(born in Newark) sing about living there. I suspect that it is a fairly common event in New Jersey that people sing about being there. I remember singing when I lived near Wrightstown. The performer, now a resident of Minnesota by way of Pennsylvania was singing near (43.907958,-70.94944) or 43* 54' 28.65" N, -70* 56' 41.80" W. This New Jersey native son, provided a very entertaining show as the sun set,the mercury dropped and the wind increased.
    Thank you,
    Cas

I was hoping that someone would get the location from the information given and backtrack to whom the performer was based upon the clues.
    It was John Gorka.
I do not know how to post pictures let alone audio, but both are available at John Gorka website.
    Thank you,
    Cas

Oh. The coordinates you gave were to a location in Maine. That's what was throwing me off I guess. I never heard of him but I do now. I'll have to check out his site later on.

    Thank you all,
The location was the "Stone Mountain Arts Center" in the woods of Brownfield, Maine. Commercial fishnet maker Jeff Flagg and his wife singer Carol Noonan recently opened this performing arts center.
It may have been the third song that Newark born John Gorka performed which dealt with other people's expectations of New Jersey natives. The lyrics were humorus with a little bit of a bite to them.
It is an attractive area for those who like the outdoors. We have looked at a few properties on the banks of the Saco river and the Sheppard's river. We have considered the good possibility that I would become a role model of some sort for the drunken canoeist that would be floating past our backyard. Kayakers do not seem to drink enough intoxicating beverages.
    Thank you,
    Casca

I was surprised to see several vehicles with New Jersey registration plates in the parking lot at the Gorka concert. When I asked one of the drivers if he had driven to Maine from New Jersey just for the concert, he replied that he "No...I got lost and this was the first place I saw lights."
    Thank you,
    Casca
