Mexico reclaiming unjustly seized land from the USA? Seriously?

I've heard a couple claims that there is a sentiment brewing among some Mexicans, that the US stole land from Mexico, and that they should take it back.

I could honestly see some tiny kernel of truth in this, in that some land was taken as the result of war way back when, but I hope there aren't too many credible people spouting this bullshit.

Can you imagine if Mexico became our Palestine? If Mexico would be to the US, as Palestine is to Israel? There's a scary thought, eh?

Has anyone seen or heard any serious talk of this idea? I mean, someone else who was serious about it? I am certainly not serious about it yet, I just keep hearing of statements to this effect... that some Mexicans think they should take back territory stolen from them?

    From The Washington Time...
    http://washingtontimes.com/national/...2222-1672r.htm
DENVER -- La reconquista, a radical movement calling for Mexico to "reconquer" America's Southwest, has stepped out of the shadows at recent immigration-reform protests nationwide as marchers held signs saying, "Uncle Sam Stole Our Land!" and waved Mexico's flag.
Even as organizers urged marchers to display U.S. flags, the theme of reclaiming "stolen" land remained strong. One popular banner read: "If you think I'm illegal because I'm a Mexican, learn the true history because I'm in my homeland." (blah blah blah....)

This one is from "Workers World" (yeah, I know... that's why I asked if anyone takes this seriously)

    http://www.workers.org/2006/us/mexico-0504/
As Congress fights over what anti-immigrant law to impose, and the right wing rails against the powerful new movement demanding legalization of undocumented workers, one question is never addressed by the politicians and pundits: Who does the land of the United States really belong to?

The “founding fathers” and their successors stole the entire country from the Indigenous nations through centuries of war, treachery and genocide. A huge swath of the country was torn from Mexico.

Texas, California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Kansas belonged to the Mexican@ people. The Spanish had first annexed Mexico, killing millions of indigenous people.

Even before the Mexican people won liberation from Spain in 1821, rulers in this country were plotting to take their land, proclaiming with cruel arrogance that it was their manifest destiny to take whatever they wanted. (blah blah blah....)

I said it before and I'll say it again. It gets me angry when people say that I stole their ancestors land and blah blah blah, I've done nothing to no one, stop getting angry at me, my ancestors didn't take peoples land from them either... they paid other people to take the land for them

And actually if I recall right california was an independant state and willing chose to join the US and as for every other peice of land even if america never ended up having it it woulda still been fought over by different tribes form the area had they all not united anyway, this is just a simpler way of having things.

Hey, man, who asked you? Next thing we know we'll be at war with these fucking canucks, too. They'll be saying we took all their warm parts and stuck them with the cold parts.

No, man, no... joking, joking... I love Canada. It's the second greatest country on Earth. Or third... or fourth... or... uh...

I have to admit, I thought of moving there once or twice, like during w's inauguration. Both times.

Sorry guys, but it's the history of the world. It's been goin' on forever. If you can steal it - you got it. Then you gotta try to keep it because a lot of times it gets stolen again by the next warrior superstar. It might take a couple or three hundred years or it might take 3 weeks.

you guys have mexicans claiming land, we have native americans claiming land... though you guys prolly have that too.

It's actually pretty funny, the land claims for the provance of British Columbia alone are 3 times the size of what the provance actually is.

The United States was at War with Mexico--over The Texas Territory independance from Mexico.

This War lasted from 1846 to 1848.

It was a real War and Hard Fought.

It ended With the Treaty Of Guadalupe Hildalgo. Mexico Ceceded the Territories of Texas--New Mexico, Arizona and California to the U.S.

The U.S. paid the Mexican Government $15,000,000.00 For that Land.

The Claim of thieft is pure hogwash.

People claiming anything other than the facts need to get a grip.

You Lost the war--We won the War--Your Lucky we didn't burn Mexico City Down to the Ground.

Under Polk's Terms Your Government had a Choice.

    It was very very simple.

Take the 15 Million dollars and Shut up or--We will take you whole Country.

Thats what happens when you lose a War.

The Winner Gets to slap you around a little.

    Get over it.

    It happened 108 years ago.

Those States are Ours and you can like it or get out.

Nobody ever wants Indiana back... :spin:

Seriously, people the world over need to just shut the fuck up and make the best of what they have, instead of pissing and moaning about what happened 100's of years ago. I mean, America just didn't happen, Americans through the decades have made it what it is now. Nobody gave us anything, we either took what we needed or made it up from scratch. Usually, the latter...
