    That's terrible news.

I am so sorry for your loss, RIP Sugarskull.

So sad and untimely. You just can't count on much these days. I had counted on Scott to post in his own inimitable way. Now he is gone. RIP, Sir. Thoughts sent to you, Kelper.

    Another dark day at JD.

Another Devil down in less than two months.

Scott often lent a cool introspective tilt to things.

Here’s a piece of a conversation we had back in October; it’s the only thing that remained in my Inbox. It might take a couple of reads; Scott presented in a way that was engaging and provoked further thought on your end.

There was a day that my eyes have never seen before. To me it was real horror. Stephen King couldn't have sent a shock wave as effective as this real life observation.

It began with a Mother hamster.

My specialty was avian care. Very caring parents of one another.
Walking by and checking on the other critters being for sale, one cage stopped me dead in my tracks. Something new.

A Mother hamster was eating her newborns. Not just devouring each one at a time, but eating half of a pinky, then going to her regular seeds, nuts, grain food, and proceeding to gnaw another one in half. The half left was still wiggling. No blood. Just flesh and bone squirming.

The World struck me raw in the face. There is objective horror in the world. It happens beneath our usual line of sight. It's there whether we see the behavior or not.

That is how I learned a most important lesson.

Some species seek to grow and prosper. Others take the long road before they ever are cognizant of that one simple recognition.
    Life is precious.
Before that knowledge is part of the whole being, many mistakes were made.

That pattern is often repeated in micro in Homo Sapiens.
We have developed a behavior system that encourages growth within our species.

The bottom line, the root that goes beyond survival is respect (reverence) for who we are in one another.
It's expression is the underlying understanding of..manners.

    It's as simple as that.

    Take Care,

    Scott
Scott knew that I loved this Community of ours as he did. His passing has left a void that is difficult to fill.

My sincerest condolences to you, Kelper, as well as to Scott’s Family and Friends.

He was among a handful of True Devils that I would have enjoyed sharing a bottle (or two) of Whiskey with while solving the immediate problems of the World……....even if it only meant getting our glasses filled in a timely manner with minimal spillage.

I always thought that he would like this picture. He enjoyed the written word and respected the power of it.

Rest in Peace, Sugar; you left our Party far too early.

RIP Jerry "DaBird" Lameka 1957-2012. Rest peacefully, buddy. We'll never forget you.

Jezus...is this really real? He was like my favorite Devil...his humor and brevity was always...well, Sugarskull.

    Shit, this is simply awful.

My condolences to all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives. I can only imagine he was a hell of a guy to know.

    Wow. Unfuckingbelievable.

This is absolutely horrible news. Been feeling sick since I first read it this morning and have been stalling hoping for a "gotcha" type post from SS himself. No such luck...

Scott, you were the first to friend me here on the mighty JD, and a true friendship was the result (thanks for that). I enjoyed your sense of humor, as you recognized, I too, have the same type of off the wall way of looking at things. I also enjoyed all the conversations we had in PMs over the short time I've been a member here. You'll be missed more than you thought you would have , Scott, and I'm just one of many.

Kelper, I'm very sorry for what you must be feeling at the moment, and I know you're missing Scotts great big heart more than words can describe. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

I have no doubt we'll meet again on the other side, SS, so until then, I won't say good bye, but see ya later, and thanks for everything.
