    Need help identifying a knife

I just picked this up and I am wondering if anyone can tell me anything else about it. It is a Jacob Mello 4in. fixed blade, but the previous owner doesn't know the steel type (he guesses S30V) or anything else about it.

It is in the mail, so I don't have it in hand yet. I am mainly interested in pinning down the type of steel, but I wouldn't mind knowing more details. The knife also has a teklok kydex sheath.

I don't know if he is still making knives, but he may be able to tell you what steel it was made from. He messed up his hand a while back, not sure he ever got back into it.

Signed on to my old ass facebook account to drop him a line. No reply yet but looks like it is called "Side Arm" based on a shot in his photo album.

All I really want to know is what type of steel it is. I'm giving it to a family member as a gift and would like to know what to call it.

    Call it a knife!

I have a great collection of different pocket knives but i haven't this kind fixed blade knife in my knives collection. After seeing this knife pictures, I think it was made before many years and also used a very strong material for making it.
