Ya got that right ! It was really ugly, now at least it's almost healed. I took my girlfriend (the one who had the accident) and her son to the hairdresser. She's all bruised , his jaw is broken and wired shut - It looked as if someone was shooting "Haircut of the Living Dead."Looks alot better than it did

Hawaiian: Mine popped out in a restaurant one evening. I just covered it with my napkin and said, "Excuse me ... " and went to the ladies room to reinsert it. There's not much you can do. I'm to the point where I just get the giggles. The librarian and I start laughing whenever we see each other - all I have to do is raise an eyebrow.
A glass eye costs about $3000 and you need a new one every 5 years or so.
I can tell you that the thought of losing one of my own eyes sends chills down my spine, the sight of your socket doesn't disgust me in the least. Just makes me worry about my own eyes, of which I am super sensitive, and ol' type 2 diabetes is trying to take, in collusion with glaucoma.
Good luck with that, best you try to keep it under control ... the alternative isn't pretty.
Howie - it will stabilize - as soon as I get an eye that fits right I will keep it in all the time - 24-7. Dr. Popeye sez to come in about 2 twice a year for a tune up and lube job ...
... of course there's always those times when you just want to have a little good clean fun ...
Deadeye I admire your comedic attitude and resiliancy. You are a fine example for anyone who has to deal with traumatic medical problems.

No - just joking. She's the first to crack a joke about it, and she loves all the attention I think. It's been great to see her go from afraid of the procedure (as any of us would be - it was quite a horror to imagine) to having lots of fun with it.
She hasn't shot since the surgery, but she was stone dead in that eye the last time she popped that groundhog with her .38, I think.
Weird, cosmic coincidence: my ex wife was also 7 years older than me, and also blind in one eye. Deadeye is blind in the left so shooting is not so awkward. My ex was blind in her right, so she shot right handed but sighted with her left eye. Especially awkward with a rifle.

Anything short range sucks - like driving a car, but bullets are kool. Just line that sucker up ....no interference from stereo vision sources ....

That pisses me off. I can only imagine 2 reasons why someone would have done this:
1 - They misunderstood his comment "prosthesis today are real fakes," which in context seems to mean "good fakes" or "very convincing and realistic." Maybe you thought he was saying something bad to DD about her prospects of looking normal again, but he clearly says "you can't guess," indicating that modern prosthetics are good. If you were sticking up for Deadeye, thanks - it was an honest mistake, even though it is better to at least give your name and a reason when issuing anti-chiclets.
2 - They just narrow mindedly took a cheap shot at him for being French and having a little trouble with the subtleties of English. If so - how much French do you speak?
OC's a great guy. He has sent us pictures of his home in France and his daughter, and he is eager to be friendly and to learn more about American culture. This is your chance to be an ambassador to a sophisticated man who works as an engineer in the aircraft industry, who speaks more languages than you do, and who is sincerely friendly toward us all. I used to tape my shooting glasses when I shot smallbore and high-power military, becasie when you close one eye, it is a strain on the other eye to keep it open.
You, DD, don't have that handicap when shooting, as you can keep them both open and relaxed, and not get tired or distracted...

Default is positive - you have to check "I disapprove" to give red chiclets.
