So what do you guys wanna see? So far I'm thinking seax, cleaver, or k-bit, and leaning toward the seax. Any other suggestions?

Okay. Change of plans. I had wanted to try a hidden tang or takedown but I have a lot of stuff already profiled. So instead of the seax I'm gonna go with one of the ones below. I've been meaning to do these for the fcs Cali crew for a while so I'm just rolling with one of these. Hopefully my grinding goes well. If not I'll have some cool paper weights.......

I cleaned up the profile a bit of the larger blade and finished cutting out the last section at the end of the handle. Didn't get a chance to snap a shot as I was busy working on a couple orders too. It needs a little more cleaning up. Sometime this weeked I'll make sure its nice and flat, drill the holes for the handle and mark the blade for grinding. I'll snap some pics of that and take measurements. Guess I can work on the k-bit a little too.... I'm planning on tapering the tang of the k-bit and then marking it to be ground. Gonna have to go slow and steady on both. Oddly, I'm actually looking forward to the challenge of grinding this much 3V.
I'm likin the look of these alot!!
What is the oal. of the big one??
Can't wait to see more![]()
The big one is 28" OAL. Some pics from today. Just more hand sanding of some of the profile and drilled the holes. I had to hand sand some of the profile due to the cut out at the end of the handle and the difficulty of getting a small wheel inside the actual handle itself. To do this I used some paper and a dowel like object. When it comes to hand sanding just use the paper like its free. You'll be happy you did. I only took it to 100 grit. The reason is because with long blades like this it will defintely be clamped down during HT and get more handling during the whole transit, which can sometimes leave some deep scratches on the flats and near the spine. I've hand sanded 3V blades a little longer than this so I'm not really in for any surprises. I still have to make sure it is all flat and scribe the lines to grind. Not sure how I'm gonna grind this one. Right now it is at 45oz and I would like to get it as light and responsive as possible, under the 2lb mark. Having done a 32" OAL two handed blade weighing in at 37oz before sharpening I'm pretty sure this can be done.

Hey, you may give MO a run for his money with that big sumbitch.![]()
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.
Looks like a beast mate. Good luck with it![]()
Nice!
Did some grinding on the big one the last couple days. Not a lot of pics though. It weighs 33.8 oz. Still heavy with horrible balance.... The flat grinding is rough since I'll be hollow grinding most if not all of this thing to get the weight and balance I'm after. Somehow this seemed easier to me than grinding in a distal taper before I started grinding the bevels.... Don't recall what the hell I was thinking... In any event I have to have this ground this weekend and rush it to HT or I'm screwed. Should be an interesting weekend.. Not sure if I'll get to the k-bit. Pic of where it is at now below. Can't quite make out the top grind with my horrible camera skill but you get the idea.
