What you'll need to do is post an intro before getting into anything else.

What specifically are you concerned about? Whether it's a genuine Hinderer or if it's been somehow altered, or what?

My question is whether this is an original Hinderer?

Looks like a newer 3" XM-18 flipper? It has the new gen-4 thumb studs, but as far as I know, the 3" ones don't have the new stop pin, yet, so they're not quite gen-4. Slicer grind and smooth stone washed Ti handle scale--looks like the real deal. This is a production knife, not the custom one, just so you know.
Thank you Guys!

Looking for: Q-36 with S90V laminated blade
Carey Nitro Extreme
Carey Rubicon Extreme
Rexford Icon
Nkonka 3V Spearpoint
Are there actually fakes of XM-18's that look even close to that good?
If it is too good to be true it probably is
A few years back I joined the forums asking the same kind of questions. Basically got screwed out of a good deal of money on a fake strider. If they cant get you good picks save your cash for someone you can trust.
You're hungry? Maybe you can eat your Eight Dollar Map!
Yes, but they aren't done with a slicer grind.... yet.
There is a maker on the Eastern side of the world that is supposedly making what folks are calling an "homage" to the XM-18. He marks the blade with his mark and marks the handle with the word Titanium where it says Hinderer on the Gen. 3 and Gen. 4 models. Supposedly it uses S35VN, but I don't buy that. The knife looks remarkably similar to the real deal. Worse yet, it appears the blades are handground which gives the appearance of a custom. Only by the markings would one really be able to tell that they aren't real. They happen to sell this "homage" at the same places they sell the counterfeits so that says a lot. You'll notice I put the word homage in quotes... that means it's bullshit.![]()
