BM 755 MPR brutal to open/close?

I just got two new BM's yesterday, 915 triage which is better than expected, but the 755 MPR is horrible. My thumb is killing me from opening it and working the liner lock to close it. It looks great, I've always wanted this knife so I'm really disappointed, never saw any review that indicated this as a problem. I also saw many vid's that showed this model operating as smooth as butter.

I tried adjusting the tension and that isn't helping. This is a brand new knife so I didn't expect this, I'm wondering if anyone has some ideas/experience with similar problems with this model? I'm thinking I might just send it back to the factory or send it back to the vendor.

I'm bummed! I've lusted after this knife for ages!

Never heard of this problem with the 755. Mine was smooth as hell and easy to open/close.

I bought two, one for my brother and one for me. Both were really smooth on the lock with 0 blade play. I would send it in to benchmade and have them tweak it.

Thanks guys for the feedback, it seems like I might have just got a lemon or something. Back to benchmade it goes...

Mine is the same way. I think it's due to the ball in the Lock bar dropping too far into the hole in the tang when closed.

The G-10 could also be relieved a little more to grant better access in releasing the lock.

IMO, Benchmade's thumbstuds and their positioning leave me wanting. It seems that all of the nice BMs have a Spyderco hole......

I find the 755 to be a problem to open as well. My "Opening SOP" is to grip the spine of the blade between thumb and middle finger, using them to open it that first half-inch or so, then applying a little flick of the wrist to complete deployment.
I use the same technique on the (flipperless) ZT-0550.

I bought two as gifts and they both worked smoothly. One guy took the clip off and ground it a little to make it easier to put on his pocket, the other still loves his as is after a year and a half.

    My theory on this issue:

Any folder with a spring-loaded ball detent is subject to a slight variation from knife to knife, due to the amount of wear on the drill bit which is drilling the ball`s hole....a fresh bit will bite more agressively than one almost at the end of it`s useful life. It`s just the luck of the draw which one you get. My ZT 0560 doesn`t have nearly the opening resistance of my 0561, which is the identical knife, except for the handle scales.

    Just thinkin` out loud here....

I sent it to Benchmade today for a repair or replacement. Anyone know what their typical turn around is?

Thanks again all for the help

10 to 12 working days this time of year. I was on the phone with them today because I sent one in 10 days ago and was curious. http://www.benchmade.com/services/warranty.aspx

I hope everything gets worked out with your 755. I had one a while back and it was one of my favorites.

I got this back this week and they adjusted the lock, replaced some screws apparently and cleaned/oiled it. It opens really nicely now and the liner lock is better but still sticks occasionally but nothing like it was before.

I'm impressed with Benchmade's service, this is the first knife I've sent back to them. Overall on the knife though I'm disappointed. I've always loved how it looks and the materials are great, but it's an odd size in my hand, doesn't fit me. I also find I don't care for the pocket clip even though that was one of the things that originally attracted me to it. It's a little tank for sure, just size wise it's "in between" feeling, like it should be a little bigger, or a little smaller in my hand. One more for the safe I guess...
