Mad Dog One of a Kind, Neil Blackwood - what else is in here??

Okay, folks, I am re-listing the pair of Neil Blackwood knives, selling for a friend, as well as introducing a one-of-a-kind Mad Dog. The Mad Dog I am also selling for a friend.

Let's do the Mad Dog first.

This is a Mad Dog Mirage X knife, and is the ONLY one like it, period.

This knife is new. Never been used, carried, nada. It has been fondled, caressed, and replaced in the sheath, then the bag, then stored.

It is similar to the EOD model, but with some very distinct differences from the EOD.

If you're not familiar with the Mirage X ceramics, these are about as far from the Boker or Kyocera ceramic knives as you can get. Kevin used to pound these thru 55 gallon drums during demos.

This is the only all-white Mirage X blade I have ever seen in person.

The handle on this knife is slimmer than the EOD - this handle is the same size as a mid-grip/ thin-grip Bear Cat, and it comes with a slip sheath instead of a high ride or drop-leg (ATAK) sheath.

The knife is 9 5/8 inch OAL, with a 5 3/16 inch blade and a 4 7/16 inch handle.

I borrowed the following from Miles Welze - it's not his ad copy, since I saw this first on the old MD Tactical site way back when, so I'm okay with re-posting it here

Summary: this is a Mad Dog Knives Mirage - X ceramic knife. This knife is extremely sought after is a very unique piece. The Mirage-X line is Mad Dog's 2nd generation of non-metallic blades, far superior to previous attempts of a usable non-metallic blade. Mirage-X blades are used around the world by elite military and law enforcement operators for covert operations to EOD teams who prefer non-metallic, non galvanic signature.

Edge Holding: abrasion resistance has a whole new meaning. With a hardness approaching a diamond, the Mirage-X holds and edge better than any other knife made. Unlike the fragile ceramic knives on the market today, the Mirage-X is not made of simple alumina ceramic. The Mirage-X can cut glass and shave steel off a SEAL ATAK without going dull.

Magnetically Inert: The Mirage-X has absolutely zero magnetic permeability. It is far safer than titanium to use around magnetically or capacitively triggered ordnance. The Mirage-X is simply invisible to all metal detectors.

For sale - this is a fully handmade and custom Neil Blackwood Medium Fancy Hunter, done with hand-rubbed D2 and presentation-grade Ironwood scales , beautiful filework on the spine, mosaic pins and a leather sheath by Gary Pooler.

Neil Blackwood has done very few knives with a hand-rubbed finish and it's not likely he'll do many more.

This knife was carried as a gent's knife, was never used. The pics speak for themselves.

Next up, a Neil Blackwood semi-custom Henchman.

This is not a production knife and Neil says he does not do mid-tech, period.

The knife is numbered 20/ 50, and again, it an is NOT a mid-tech. All the work was done entirely by Mr. Blackwood himself.

This is the last run of Henchman that Neil Blackwood ever planned to make, believing this is the best iteration of the Henchman he was capable of making (2003 ??)

I know he has since talked about making a few more, but I have not seen them about.

This knife was done with S30V steel and was delivered without scales.

The scales on this knife were done using kauwila, ebony, maple and mango woods by Dave Kuttler. This is the only one like it. The knife is new, pristine, never used or carried, just stored safely as you can see in the pics. By this I mean it has never even opened an envelope.

A Benchmade Blackwood Mini-Ruckus, Model 615

The knife is NIB, S30V steel, plain edge (harder to find so it seems than the combo edge) No wobble, excellent lockup, perfectly smooth action.

Enter the UBR Commander - it is 10% larger overall than the Super Commander and these are harder to find on the secondary market - this specific knife is part of a group buy done at Tactical Forums and was orchestrated by the frogman who conceived of the knife.

The knife is numbered 063 for anyone who keeps track of such matters.

This is a new knife, no box or papers unfortunately. It has perfect and solid lockup. It's never been used - I got it from a friend who bought it in the group buy, tossed the box for reasons neither of us recall and then he vacuum-sealed it to preserve it. I had to open it today for the pics you see here. It has never been used for anything and has spent its life in storage.

I've dropped the prices on the Blackwoods from $900 to $750 and $600 to $450 respectively. I just found some comps which tell me I was high on those, so we should be at a more reasonable market price point.

If you'd like both the UBR Commander and the Benchmade 615, I'll be happy to take 10% off the pair of them - likewise, if you want to play let's make a deal on the customs, let's talk and see what we come up with.

I'm adding a Scott Cook Owyhee Hunter which I had up for sale in the prior sale thread - this particular knife won Best in Show at the 2004 Oregon Knife show and was purchased at the show by EDC knives, who then transferred it to my friend.

It features an S30V blade, Ironwood scales, and a sheath from Gfellers Casemakers. Never used, carried, only stored.

Price drop on the Mad Dog - there is only one of these knives out there - the EOD and Hunter were far bulkier and the Spook and Operator had the elastomer handles - only one like it folks and you can have it next week!

Price drop on the Blackwoods as well - you're not going to find a Medium Hunter and a Henchman together again either and I will bundle the pair of these together at a package pricing.
