    Production D/A Side Openers?

I was looking at a Spyderco Citadel, which is not D/A but looks like it could be, when I started wondering if there were any decent production D/A side openers. I know of the MT LCC and Terz and the Lone Wolf knife, but those are all discontinued and collectible. I've also seen a bunch of CCC D/A knives while searching the web, but I definitely don't want something like that.

Are there any currently made production D/A side openers?

I have a SS ATAC from Protech and it is a great knife. I don't know if they still make the ATAC but I know some dealers still carry them...

    Looking for: Q-36 in CTS-XHP

Lone Wolf used to make some decent ones back before Benchmade bought them out. Don't know if Benchmade is still putting them out or not.

Does the Microtech select fire fall into the category you are interested in? It has a goofy key lock thing though so it's either always on or always off.

I've read plenty of good things about Cutters Knife and Tool Brend D/A, though I don't know if they are still being made. The web page hasn't been updated for ages, but I've read something dated about a year ago about sending an email to the makers that they still might be in production...

I believe Tom/CKT did start making them again, but off and on.
He's been more active on BF a while ago.
If you go to that forum and look up my name and add Brend and Cutters, you should get the large thread where he gave some info.

These are pretty much semi custom quality. A lot of work goes into the titanium framelocks, and they're D/A to boot.

But only about 20 had hand ground Brend blades, most didn't.
    Great knife either way.
    Here's mine:

    Double action auto side open

Benchmade HK Scortch Double action autos #14925 modified tanto and #14975 pointy blade are still available from several dealers for about $100.

(If you can not find them PM me.)

I just purchased a couple recently and like them a lot.

I was told that Benchmade is discontinuing them. Their is a rumor of a replacement DA but it was not made clear to me if it is being released in a month or next year.

Thanks for the suggestions, but nothing really grabs me except the CK&T Brend, I assume that knife is not easy to get nor very affordable though...

I think the LCC would be just what I'm looking for - solid, good looking, good size - except for the fact that it's long discontinued and commands collector prices. Any other ideas?

If you like the looks of the CK&T/Brend, keep an eye out for it. You wont me dissapointed.

The D/A was in the high $400s when first offered around 2002 if I remember correctly. The manual only was about 250.
They went up quite a bit too in the second hand market for a while, but the economy has brought them down now. Even below the original retail price.

I got into these later on too, so don't feel like you missed the boat.
I bought my second D/A a few months ago for $340 and it was pretty much mint, so it was in better condition and cheaper than the first one I bought at just under 400 over a year ago.
I also saw a lightly used manual one go for only 150 on the bay I think last month (should of bid on it). I'd call that VERY affordable. That's actually insane for a quality US made fullsize Ti framelock with a great 154cm blade steel.

This was known as "the D/A sebbie"
I personally think the handle is better than the sebenza. The blade though is a different style , and not as utilitarian as the simple sebbie. Possibly more of a fighter with its recurve.
I dont understand how other high end factory made or "mid tech" ti framelocks that have a rep of being hit or miss on QC can still command high prices, but the CKT has seemed to be forgotten.
Not enough fanboys? that's just better for me, you, and the few serious collectors that know how much it SHOULD cost to make a decent Ti framelock D/A nowadays (and a Brend design ON TOP OF THAT!).
This is a product with practically sebenza quality and also RARE with not many made, even though the owner may have started making them again in limited batches.
I guess the market decides what to make popular.

Anyway, if you're active on one or a few forums and keep an eye on the bay then you will see some once in a while.
Check out that thread I mentioned too, and look for his email.
It may be different than the one on the old website.
Or try using the that forum to contact him.
I may have an old saved email somewhere too, so contact me if you cant find it.

Regardless, if he's not around anymore, it's still worth it to hunt one down. Especially in this economy.
It doesn't get much better for a big titanium framelock D/A semi custom knife.
Did I mention it has a removable anchor bolt to get the lever spring out? It's so you can convert it to manual only if auto are illegal to carry in your city/state and you want to EDC it. I can't think of many knives that offer that.

    Good luck.
