    Benchmade 51 sheath questions

    What would be the best way to make a leather Benchmade 51 sheath? I want it to be a horizontal sheath. I only want it to cover about two-thirds of the knife so it's easy to draw out of the sheath. will the leather itself shrink to friction grab the knife or will i need a strap of some kind to hold it in the sheath?

    And drink potato gin forever,
    Or maybe made-from-pine-trees vodka,
    In the dreary land of Pohja.
    Let us clash our knives together,
    Let us slice and cut our fingers;
    Let us stab a cheerful measure,
    Let us use our best endeavors,
    While the young are standing round us,
    Of the rising generation."

    with a friction sheath you don't need a strap

    this one is made by savage12k and fits a 51 too, a bit more tight...

    A description of the blade or pictures of same would be helpful. That it is a knife that you are familiar with (and made) does not make all of us familiar with same. Would like to help you here but need more info.

    Linos's pic was pretty darn close to what I was looking at doing. I guess I want a design that's simple but effective. How would someone go about making a sheath like the one in the photograph. Is it something a beginner could accomplish?

    Linos's sheath actually works horizontal, vertical, and inverted. The design IS simple and effective. Getting it accomplished is Less simple. A beginner could accomplish something very similar to this sheath. It would not hold the knife as well I suspect, but with a few months of testing and experimenting you could figure it out.

    OR, you could send me a PM and ask me to build one for you. There is a bit of a wait for my sheaths as I have more than one customer another job, and real life with which to contend.
