Thread: What is your preferred style of latch?

What is your preferred style of latch?

Roller? T? Spring? Magnetic? Whatever they call the one on the 51? Or no latch at all? Does it depend on if you use it as a flipper or an EDC? Personally, I prefer latchless. It's just another step to open it for cutting and a piece flopping around and getting in the way for flipping. besides, having no latch make me feel like a Jedi

Roller because it looks nice, and spring latch and kinda the 51's latch I just wish it would stay in place,

I don't know what to call the 51's latch.... does Benchmade have a name for it? I used to just call it a second gen spring latch....

I prefer latchless, if there needs to be a latch, I like regular ol' t-latch. I like my t-latches fitted tightly so it pops off when you flick it with the thumb.

This guy has one of my favorite latches of all time.

The AA has one of the best latches for a production bali, however latchless can be faster to deploy, and eliminates the ends of the handle/blades from latch nicks/wear. Just my opinion for what it is worth.

I prefer spring latch (42-style) or T-latch. As long as there's a latch gate, I'm good.

Don't like latchless as I like to secure the blade close when not in used. Also, not a fan of drawing from sheaths... so must have a latch!

    Latchless
If I had handled a 42 I would probably go wit a spring latch
A T latch is too damn noisy for my tastes
Looking for a 51. A little short on money.

I like latches, but only ones that do a good job of staying out of the way... spring and roller latches are good.

This is like the last model I could afford before they doubled in price after the Daniel Craig 007 came out. I'm sure a few guys here have some timepieces they're hidin' too

It's a graduation present to myself. Thanks for the compliment.

For me it depends on the type of balisong and what I use it for. I like the feel and sound of t latches, but spring is more practical to me.

I go sans latch every now and then, but not very often. Regardless of the type of latch I would like to be able to remove it if I want.
