Not the Artsy Fartsy Kind But...........

I do like this one artist from New Mexico. His name is J. D. Challenger, and he does a lot of Native American paintings. I like his work because of the level of detail and the amazing colors he uses. I have several of his prints, but I am working on building frames for these two right now.........

First one is called "Wildcat Renegade", and its going into a quilted cherry frame with dark red mat.....

The second one is called "Ghost Dance in the Snow", and its going into a leopardwood frame with dark mat.

Frames are about half way done, and need quite a few more coats of tru oil before I can call them finished.

    Thanks for lookin.....L

Thanks for the nice comments. I got another coat on today, and will be working towards having these finished soon. The pics of the prints don't really do them justice........ I know people say that all the time, but once they are mounted in the frames and all that stuff I will take some pics and try and get some close ups.

Those are all pretty nice. I was thinking of getting something to hang on the walls too but haven't looked very hard. How did you come about this artist? I was thinking movie posters, but I'm not a rapper and my home is too small for a Tony Montana poster.

I did a dry fitting today with everything except the glass, so I can get an idea of how they will look. I took some closer pics of the level of detail not shown in the other pics. For example you can see the hairs individually painted..... I also took a pic of the last pic on the pool table. the red mat in the pic matches the felt of the pool table itself. These along with a third will go in the "pool room"...........Table is 4' x 8'

    Thanks for lookin...L

These pics are probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I did finally get these frames finished. They were professionally mounted with museum glass / acid free paper etc. Artist is J.D. Challenger

Woods = Quilted Cherry, Darkened Black Walnut and Leopard Wood all with a Tru Oil finish.
