Why can't the cops just punch the guy in the nose and be over it. This is what happens when liberals take up arms.

    That Motherfucker knows his laws

That would never happen in AZ the cops would just ask you what caliber it is, or if you liked your holster.

Standing up for a right that is supposed to be UN-INFRINGED is not being a dick. I suppose the cop's not being a dick either but he has the WRONG idea about what his job entails.

If ignorance of the law is no excuse for citizens, than why is it ok for cops? Getting arrested and put in jail for something that is not a crime costs just as much $$ and is just as embarrassing as if you did commit a crime.

    come on man,

the guy filming has set it up big time ...

i think he was even waiving with the gun walking up and down the street so people would call the cops , he had his camera perfect set up and did not forget to film the second officer,
i like my freedoms, but this is over reacting

btw do not not have to show a ID to police ?
our little country is pritty liberal ( the netherlands ) ...
but you need to have a id with you all the time, and failing to show when asked , is good for a arrest or fine

how will they ever arrest a illegal immigrant ? when they can not ask for a ID

Hey Firebolt, You do indeed have an "liberal" country. I've been there a few times and I know it's also a beautiful country. But here in the USA we DON'T have to carry ID where ever we go. We also can walk up and down a public street as many times as we want to with or without a gun. The cops have absolutely NOTHING to say about it. As a matter of fact, we have the right of free speech which allows us to tell the "authorities" to go FUCK themselves when they are fucking with us.

I heard the guy politely stand up for his rights. As far as the filming goes there are people here and there that will film anything in public - especially the police as they do have a tendency to fuck with people unnecessarily.

If you feel like laying down and exposing your tender undersides at the request of a police officer - that it is your right. But for me - unless I'm getting arrested, in which case I will totally shut up,- I will feel FREE to tell a nosey cop to take a hike.

    Hey Pete,

    thanks for your explanation,

i take it this ( gun carry law ) is different for every state ?

but you have to agree for some degree,
this guy was looking for it. at least expecting it
the legal terms used and court verdicts where learned by hard

just a wondering dutch man, who wonders why i need to leave my knifes at home when i go to Cali
    but my gun is ok

    firebolt,

You can bring a knife to kalifornia as long as the blade is under 4" (not sure about the length rule). Even an automatic knife as long as the blade is under (I think) 2". However ,not being a citizen, you can't legally carry a gun in Kalifornia or any other state.

My first time in Holland at the train stop from Amsterdam just before (Schiapol sp.) the airport, a couple of ~14 year old arab kids stole my laptop bag. In the bag was my laptop and a brand new MicroTech LCC/MA!! That really sucked. Except for that I remember my visits your country fondly. Especially for not having cops on every street corner as they do here. I could hardly find a cop at the airport to report the theft!

    Pete:

Depending on the state you live in, it actually CAN be a legal requirement to provide proof of your identity.

Also, in most locales, telling an officer to "fuck off" will net you a disorderly conduct charge.

There are freedoms, and then there are social responsibilities.

I would call the police on someone that is walking down the street with a pistol in his hands. That shit is NOT normal, and to me, implies that that individual has a mental defect (lack of common sense), or is a criminal intent on wrong doing. Granted, I'm some liberal commie because I live in Illinois (I already knew what you were going to say before you said it), but that's how I see it. And I do hold a valid carry permit for other states, and have lived in carry states quite recently. In fact, I lived in Nashville, TN where we had our very own shit stirrer that decided to take it upon himself to open carry an AK pistol in a park after we fought hard to get the privilege to carry handguns. He almost fucked that up for all of us. He also decided to start a ruckuss by walking down the street in Franklin carrying a black powder pistol in his hand. Why? Because he is a fucking idiot. That's why. Kind of like the guy in the video.

Just because you CAN do something does not mean you SHOULD.

The firearms community would do better if we learned to be invisible. Fight for our rights, yes. But exercise them discreetly, most certainly. I want the criminals to be wary not because they see pistols on everybody's hips, but because they CAN'T see them. not knowing who is armed and who isn't means it is much more difficult to tell the easy prey from the hard.

Of course, I'm also the guy that believes that when you get your carry permit, it is your social and moral obligation to get the training and practice in to ensure that you are not more of a danger to bystanders than the bad guy. Look at the Zimmerman case is doing to the gun community. IF that guy had felt the immense social pressure to go out and seek professional training in tactics (and more importantly, mindset), that shit would have never happened, and we wouldn't have the assholes coming after rights it took long battles to secure.

Maybe i am behind or nieve on the laws in this country, regarding carrying firearms

    in a public setting,but am i too understand,that it is now ok,if a police
    officer sees anyone,white,black,hispanic,asian, etc,walking down a

public throughway, brandishing a pistol, all that individual has to say is

"sorry,i do not have to give you my name,or firearms i.d.,leave me alone, fuckoff and goodbye"

and police have no alternitive but to wave them along???

    That scares me ...

There are certain responsibilites you must adhere to,when applying for a carry permit,

in any state and i assume 1 of them, pertains to agreeing not to wave a pistol around, where the public is welcomed and

a good reason,if you do wave it around,to be subject to police scrutiny..

I'd prefer not to share the public streets,w/some wanna-be lawyer, with a chip on his shoulder, pointing pistols anywhere he wants, because "its' his right"..

I do however, understand, given my family/friends are in law enforcement,at many levels, that shall you have it concealed properly,

or displayed properly, noone has the right to bug you, unless you've given reason to be bugged, but openly and physically waving it around

in public,as this thread suggests happened, creates enough public concern, for l.e.o.'s,to do their job, regarding public safety and should have the right to at least, interview the person, brandishing the weapon, with respect to protecting the public..

    Am i behind the times??

I'd much prefer to believe, they were all paid actors in this video, looking for a shock factor...

There is a tremendous difference between carrying a gun and brandishing a gun. How safe would you feel if all the cops in your part of the country carried their pistols around in their hand and waved it around at all times?

As far as - if you have a right to do something doesn't mean you should do it - I suppose if you have a right to do something and you WANT to do it, you should do it. That simple. If other people (sheeple) don't like it, they have my personal invitation to go fuck themselves.

I don't have to live my life according to what makes you, or anybody, feel good. All I really have to do is obey the law or pay the price if I get caught.

Do you whisper everywhere you go so that you won't upset anyone while exercising you right to free speech??

Prior restraint (abusing someone's god given rights) to prevent law breaking is STUPID, unconstitutional, and it doesn't work. Liberals say "you can't yell FIRE in a crowded theater". I can. I choose not to.
Does some government official stand at the entrance to theaters and sew liberals lips together on the off chance that they might break the law?

If people have an obligation to make me feel warm and fuzzy, they should make it a felony for liberals to express their opinions in public. If the liberals can't trust themselves and choose to use prior restraint, they can gag themselves with my blessing. But I wouldn't support the government's power to gag them.

I never carry an ID if I'm not driving, or otherwise won't use it. Nobody told me of a law in which you need to keep your passport on you at all times. If that's so - I guess I'm fucked if I get caught without it.

Your right to yell fire in a crowded place ends when it puts someone else in danger. Also, drop the liberals versus everybody else shit. This is the JD and politics do not belong here.

Your right to carry a firearm ends when you put someone else in danger. Pistols belong in holsters because they are safer there. When you carry a firearm, it is your moral and social obligation to do so in a safe manner. There are very few instances where one persons rights take priority over someone else's safety.
