There is a reason why you are in the place you are in. Whether it be by bad luck, lack of skill or talent, economic down turn, or it is the will of pagan gods; there is a reason. I would appreciate the next time you come to my jobs and choose to bring the same broken, unsafe tools that the Safety Inspector removed from service the day before that you leave them at home. I would also appreciate that when one of our superintendents call you out on it; you leave your attitude at home with the unserviceable tools. After you are finished trying to be tough in front of all the other guys and I kick you off my site, Stay there. That is my way of telling you you are not wanted. It really ruined my day to have to catch you and your crew back in my building 1 hour later again using the same broken unsafe tools that got you removed. I hate having to be "the asshole," but as you can see I am GOOD at it.
Do not try and explain to me that your boss talked to our company office and they were okay with you violating OSHA policy. And please do not try and explain to me that your boss is the one paying you and you will listen to him only. In case you did not notice your boss works for us and we pay your boss.
I am about tired of sub-contractors thinking that because of the economy they can do whatever they want and we will be happy to have them do it as long as they do not try and raise their costs.
Whatever happened to people taking pride in what they do and respecting another man's work. Not ruining someones work so you can hurry and slap yours in and get out a little faster. The working mentality of folks these days is astonishing.
