Here in the north east, at least where I hail from (parts unknown) most folks are still more-or-less still from their ancestral backgrounds. Meaning they stay within their respective (Italians with Italians and so on) clans.
That being said, everyone will be asked from time to time "what are you?" This does not mean boy/girl/alien. Folks will mean "where do your people come from?". So, I was at a Portuguese BBQ joint the other day. Staffed by Mexican cooks, Brazilian hostesses and Portuguese manager and a very cute girl from the small island country of Dominica. VERY well endowed, and very cute. Not to mention pleasant. Am I gushing? We have all hashed and rehashed who is from where, who speaks what language etc. Good times.
Anyways days later, we go back in there. Myself, 2 Puerto Rican friends, and 1 Brazilian guy for some lunch. I am sitting there minding my own business when "Dominica" hops up on the counter to speak to me. Suddenly I am craving chocolate milk. Then it hits me. "What the fuck did she just say?" My friends are all giggling.... I say "I'm sorry?" as I missed her jokey comment. She reiterates; "Hey Sicilian, are you in the mob?" Everyone starts howling and busting out. She is smiling and I feel reverse racism, and discrimination.
My face turns red. I respond back; "What? Yeah. All mobsters/gangsters are Sicilian. They even wear uniforms now." Then I stop and think.....
I am wearing a Martin Olexey Blades shirt. It reads 'mob', right on the front. You son-of-a-bitch you, M.O.!!!!!!
I will get your ass!!!!!!!!!
