    Storage

i know, stupid question, but i had a talk with some smart guy recently about storing (long time) folders open.

what is your - especially RJ - take on that? main argument was the lockbar loosing tension over time when stored closed, the lockbar is more "relaxed" when the blade is opened. how about the bearings, the pressure from the lockbar against the blade/bearings when it's closed.
    does it matter?

I'm no expert but all my knives are stored closed except the autos and those I store open only because I've had people pick up a closed auto, accidently press the button not realizing the blade was going to spring open.

i store mine closed as well, just because a closed folder is more compact then a opened one and you can't cut yourself grabbing it

curious anyway, that "loosing tension" may be true, depending on which material the spring is made from and how good or bad the HT is if it's steel. anyhow, i doubt it will have some real time impact anyway, no matter what material. the pressure against the bearing, don't know.

i do have ppl all the time that can't figure how to close them
