Roger Waters "The Wall" = Totally 56 unfriendly and lots of pics.

I joined the Roger Waters fan club when he did the Darkside of the Moon tour in 2007. It was free and I thought, great, thanks and see what this brings later . . . .

Got good tickets to the arena tour in 2010 and thought, sweet.

Then this year I put my name in a contest and low and behold got row seven tickets to his stadium tour.

So here are a bunch of pics of The Wall up close and personal. BTW I was not allowed to take my micro four thirds camera and lenses but they allowed a point an shoot so I took a Nikon 7 MP camera for this one.

48 Hi Def Projectors, One Hundred Forty Yards of Wall across a the Football Stadium (similar in style to the one in Indianapolis). Great sound bumped up but numerous Bose Pods circulated around the stadium. This place "was" the shits for big rock concerts and they have added lots of baffling etc to stop the echoing in the stadium. Needless to say when a fucking helicopter was flying over my head, I looked up to make sure it wasn't going to hit us.

BC Place Stadium before the show

Lots of pics of people who have lost their lives in the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and other places

Note perfect too. Dave Gilmour would have been proud

The flying pig put in an appearance too

This shot was right in front of us

Damn, Richard I am jealous. I wanted to get to the show he's going to do at Yankee Stadium, but I literally could not find someone to go with because everyone is into shit music and know nothing of Pink Floyd or The Wall. My wife hesitantly agreed, but I know that it's not her type of music at all and I wouldn't want to drag her to it just so she can not enjoy herself. I can't go to things like that by myself, it's just not enjoyable.

Thank you for these pictures. It's good to see some of what happens at the show.

Went to the Roger Waters concert last week here in Minneapolis. Absolutely fantastic. 3 hours of solid entertainment. Gotta experience it to understand true music.

I'm going to see Roger Waters on the 25th of June with my brother and dad. I've heard it's an amazing show can't wait to go see it.

Hell I would go again to see it. I see a lot of concerts and this one stands out because of the whole experience - sound, atmosphere, special effects, story and some kick ass tunes. Lots of happy faces leaving the Dome that night. Like I said they did a huge upgrade to the stadium including a 900 M roof plus extra sound baffling etc. Saw the Stones twice in there and swore I would never return. Then saw U2 360 last year and the sound was pretty damn good. Sound this time was exceptional with zero echoing and that sort of swirling noise you get in football stadiums.

What was pretty cool was Roger was on our local Classic Rock station for over an hour being interviewed and there was no subject out of bounds. He is a pretty straight up guy. Hearing his historical content on the run up to writing the Wall made it so much more understandable. There was dissension between the members of the group as to where to take it next. This came from the Wish you were Here album which was a tribute to Syd Barrett. Dave Gilmour wanted it one way and Roger Waters the other and in the end Roger won but the group was split at that point. Then there was the incident in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium with Roger spitting on people who were trying to get too close to the stage and the group. It was at that point he wanted to build a fucking wall between himself and the group plus the audience. The recurring theme in the concert is about all the wars going on all over the world. It is not stating one side categorically but more about the victims of war or the so called collateral damage as the media calls it. Victims of IED's, Victims of 9/11 and the like. It is in a sense a tribute to his father whom he never knew.

Look mummy there's an airplane up in the sky...

Thanks for the pics. I missed the SF show unfortunately. Heard it was killer though. Gotta love The Pink Floyd.
