    The Newest Addition

I picked up a Sig P238 and a P220 not to long ago and fell in love with the Sigs. So i figured why not give one of their 9mm a shot I narrowed it down to a P229 Extreme or Scorpion model. Ended up going with the Scorpion TB model because it was only $50 more then the regular Scorpion model. I just picked it up last night and am hoping to get to the range today or tomorrow. But so far i love it, feels like a nice solid pistol, feels great in hand and IMO is still not to big for conceal/EDC carry.

    Anyone else have a P229 ? Thoughts, Opinions ?

Don't own one, but I actually just put 50 rounds through one of them this past Saturday. Nice pistol, IMO. The ergonomics were very good, recoil was mild and easily controllable, function was perfect. The pistol had exactly 200 rounds through it when I started my box. More impressively, I think, the rounds I shot through it were my own handloads, with hard-cast lead projectiles at a fairly low velocity, tailored to be the lightest possible that would cycle my dad's Smith 39. And it STILL cycled flawlessly.

Only gripe is that the fixed sights were WAY off. Three of us shot it, two right-handers and a left-hander (me) and all of us printed groups of varying size, well below and to the left of the target. The owner of the pistol was using FMJ factory ammo, as was his friend shooting with him, and I was using reloads. All shot to roughly the same point of impact at ~15 yards, about three inches low and an inch left of center.

I'll be really interested in hearing how your range trip goes, it certainly is a comfortable gun to shoot.

That's a bad ass weapon. I'm glad you got rid of the Coonan, though. It's one of the best pistols I've ever shot.

I told my buddy who shot with me that I was shooting my Semiauto 357 this afternoon. He said, "357 sig?". I replied, "Not that weenie round, I mean a real 357 Magnum".

The P229 is badass Shot like a champ and was very accurate for me. I might not even change the factory Siglite sights. Ate everything i fed it which was

    WWB
    Remington Green/White Box
Tulammo ( Had to try the cheap shit )
    Reloads from my local range

Gonna pick up some defense ammo to try also but so far i am very happy with it and think i have finally found the perfect EDC 9mm for me

You just cant go wrong with the smaller size 9mm Sigs.
You do have the high cap 13rd mags for it right?

I have the older discontinued 228 that I had coated in NP3 (electroless nickel / teflon).

Did you buy his Coonan CDR_Glock?

Why would you change the sights? Are they tritium or not?

Before i got it in hand i was just thinking the factory one's were gonna be some cheap crappy one's like HK's. Once i got it in hand and shot it i knew they were gonna stick around for a while Pretty sure they are tritium and they honestly remind me of trijicons kind of.

    WOW!
I thought the 229 was just a beefed up version of my 228 with a stronger denser/heavier (stainless?) slide so it could also handle the .40s&w if the buyer wanted that caliber. And they ALL had the 13rd mags since they were slightly smaller versions of the standard full/service size P226 that had 15rds.

They must have made some changes since I remember back in the mid 90's. Maybe your slide/barrel is cut back like a 229 but your frame is full size?
Regardless, your version (scorpion) sounds quite special.
    Congrats once again!

I think the frames are the same length wise like you mentioned but i think the 229 frames are a tad shorter height wise then the 226's. Not sure about the 228's i only recently got into Sigs.

They have the SCT model also that is 17rd 9mm or 14rd 40cal

I might get some 17rd mags but 15 i am more then happy with.

IWantThatKnife's handgun collection has been substantially augmented via my own over the years - a few nice Colts and SW's have made their way to the Lower Mitten.
