Thread: Your dream balisong

  1. #1

    Question Your dream balisong

What would it be? What would it's spec's be? What would it be made of? Any specific colours, patterns? Any ideal features and so on?

Maybe your dream knife already exists, if so, what one is it?

Personally, I like heavier knives, and I like channel construction. I'd get something made of a high-grade steel, perhaps with a Damascus blade. A Spring latch to keep the latch out of the way, zen pins, nice and long - maybe 5 inch handles. A nice, sexy sabre style blade, too. Weighing in at about 5 - 6 oz. Dark colouring, but not BK, something like a nice gunmetal or blued steel look.

That'd be my dream knife. How about yours?

The Alpha Beast, except with channel construction and then rebalanced to counter the extra weight

Blade - Bowie blade, damascus with hamon finish

Handle - Skeletonized titanium handles (sandwich construction), blue anodized accents, and damascus spacers

    Length - 9.25 to 9.75 inches

    Weight - 4.2 to 5.2 ounces

    Latch - Spring latch

    Pivot - Bushing system

Has to flip well and razor sharp

I'm pretty content with what I've got at the moment... but!

I have been thinking about a sandwich styled Bali with ano'd Titanium liners and black G-10 overlays... maybe with chevrons or skeletonisation near the top third of the handle for grip. Maybe some sort of adjustable spacers so that I could change the weight in the rear to suit. Latchless would be O.K but I'd prefer a t-latch with a triangular shaped heed. The blade would need to be a Tanto Bowie hybrid.

If only SOMEONE could do something like that.

The one on the bottom. A hollow ground zero bevel kris in banded ladder damascus with stainless channel handles and inlays of carbon fiber and opal. A gold class 49, if you will.

when I was reading through this, my thoughts were "Overall Cost: 1 kidney, 1 arm, and 1 leg".

my dream bali will be the one I make after I get the expertise to build balisongs and after I retire, here in the next 20 or so years.

A solid performing balisong dimensions somewhere around AA or slightly longer. Bowie blade maybe steel or ti liners and g10, made in America to last; under 100 bucks.
