Thumbs up "My, my, my" said the spider to the fly - H&K 94 content...

A friend called yesterday saying he had something to show me. Bill is in his early sixties, works as a private heavy equipment mechanic, has no real interest in guns per se, and took one of these in trade over a $1k debt.

It appears unused. Asking if I wanted it, I winged it and offered him $1200 - it's also got the claw mount and Leupold scope; it's missing the sling and box, but does have an Assualt Systems soft case, the manual, and two 30 round factory mags.

He said he'd think about my offer and get back to me. Later I checked GunBroker, and a similar condition version, sans scope and mount, sold for $5001 on the sixteeth.

This morning he called and asked if I have a nice AR that I might be interested in trading straight across. I replied that I had three he could choose from. Keeping my fingers crossed here.

    Wow that is nice. 9mm?

That is the same rifle in the picture or two separate ones?

    Sweet little 94, Sheldon.

A store 3 blocks from me had one of these for sale when I was (WAY) younger for $900 new.

Laws regarding barrel lengths and "assault rifles" were changing rapidly at the time and the store was forced to attach a flash hider to add a few inches to the length.

They also had a pretty Benelli M1 for $550. I passed on both.

Why is it that hindsight is so clear?

I hope you score it. They are fun guns. Good luck!

Great weapon, $5000 is just ridiculous, but there is a buyer for everything!

Hope you score it and keep it.

    Thumbs up

Thanks guys. 'Zoid, it's a ripped off, er, borrowed interwebz photo of someone else's. OB, yep, I remember when they were $1200. Only something like 15,000 were imported before they were banned for import. This barrel is the 'legal' import barrel length - it'll make a nice suppressed SBR with a replacement barrel.

Mike, totally agreed - but if I get it at the asking/offered price, I can shoot the piss out of it and still double my money someday if need be. Besides, I have five AR's - having only four won't kill me; this looks like a great match gun; and the quick dismount scope w/claw mount would likely work great on my SAR-3...

Hmmm, last night I mentioned this potential score to a local friend and match buddy that's pretty much Mr. H&K - he just scoffed and said if this deal fell through he had a used version with a ton of widgets, stocks, mags, etc. that I could have for $1100...

Let me know. If you don't want it I'll take it. Hell, if people are giving money away

They're nothing special IMHO in semi (they're fun in full but I'd take a full auto 5.56 any day of the week to actually use as opposed to punch paper with), but they are worth a few bucks.
