This video actually kind of annoyed me. I mean, of course it's his channel and he can do whatever he damn pleases, but a LOT of people look to him on things concerning balisongs (as you said, he's very influential).
And without even looking into it, he's promoting this horrible piece of shit (the bali and the guy selling them).

I think what he is trying to get at is that these balisongs are good, if you don't have a lot of money to spend, yeah it is bullshit that they copied benchmade and I would personally have more respect for them if they had there own design, but because it copies benchmade and stands for fuck you 42, I'm gunna go ahead and say fuck you exiled cutlery.
I doubt that the blade is made from real damascus. I'm thinking it's just some fancy acid etching.
Most likely, like many people pointed out, that the FU42 is just a dolled up BM 42 counterfeit from China with some new hardware screws, latch, and polish job...

I cringed every time he said 'made in the states'. He has the right to say what he wants on youtube, but I'm not sure if Cutlerylover even realizes how much RSI has pissed all over the knife community beyond the legal issues with benchmade. Shame that there will be a bunch of people who will get suckered into buying that garbage due to this video alone, too.

Eh, I haven't really heard good things about the owner of assistedknife, but I've never done business with him personally. That does, however, look like those fake 4Xs that have been floating around for a while... Which makes me wonder, haven't people mentioned that the fakes are decent enough that the people making them should consider marketing them as their own brand? Almost seems like what is happening here, just not by the people that the community expected or wanted to do it...
This is just an observation. I've never handled the FU42 personally, but for all we know it could actually end up being a decent knife. We'll see what happens after more people can handle the knife and comment on its durability. Until then, I'm withholding my opinion. If the knife does fail after a short period of time, I can see CutleryLover marking a follow-up video about it. He does seem to get a lot of traffic asking him about balisongs, I doubt he'd want to endorse a knife if it ends up being a piece of garbage. Imagine how annoying Youtube commenters can be on a daily basis.. Now imagine how annoying they would be if they lost some money.
Though, I do think the name is going to far. That's one thing I most definitely do not approve of here...

Except for the fact that a fake BM 4x costs a fraction of what the FU costs and is made of pretty much the same garbage. So even if it is a 'decent' knife, he's still ripping people off. There's actually not much there to even support the claim that his knives are made in the US.

Anyway, I got into the whole knife forum thing after whatever happened with these people went down. And to be honest, I never really bothered looking into it. Don't even really feel I have to.
I'd gone to assisted...com before- totally ignorant of their rep, and very nearly bought a blade there. Until I ran into the whole "Bitchmade sucks....blahblahblah" rant. Didn't exactly smack of maturity there, so put them on my avoid list just to be safe.
Same goes for the FU42. Hell, even if it IS such a great knife like Jeff seems to think it is, I'm not in the habit of buying products/supporting people who are so blatantly motivated by anger and/or spite- as the name of the knife obviously suggests.

That's true. If I was going to go for a fake 4X, I'd probably get the Chinese copy (not that I'm claiming the FUs aren't from China...). If you're going to buy a fake for some reason, might as well go for the cheap one since there's probably no significant difference. My guess is that he modifies the Chinese copies and calls that "made in US," but I don't actually have any evidence for that, just my guess from seeing the similarities between the Chinese ones and the FUs.
