10,000th post and a bit of perspective.

I know... starting your own post count celebration thread is sadder than asking for your account info to be deleted... BUT... there is more.

As some of you know... I moved from Scotland to Kentucky last September. I didn't take much with me... just a bag of clothes and a bag of knives and camping gear.

Since then... I've got myself an ID, a SS#, a work permit, a job, a bank account, a wife, a stepson, a 40th birthday, a couple of new knives, a truck and a warm and welcoming place to call home.

And I've had a lot of help... not just from direct Family... but from people who saw that I was trying my best... and just needed a break.

It took 8 months of paperwork, money and physical examinations to earn permission to come here with the intent of staying permanently... I don't know why I was inspected for syphilis... but I was told that they inspect everyone applying for a Visa... and thankfully... I don't have it.

Of course I have met a lot of assholes too... but they are a global phenomenon and you will find them in every corner of the globe... and I have met surprisingly few.

Spend some time in Scotland and you will know why I was surprised.

Anyway... thanks for having me.

It's a big Country.... full of big hearts... and big trucks.

I love my truck.

Glad you made it! All your while in Scotland, you were just killing time, waiting for your trip to the real world, where real men don't wear skirts and drive Rovers! Jeans, trucks, knives, guns and a pretty lady and kid to share the adventure! What could be better! Congrats on the 10,000 posts, but more importantly, congrats on having the nerve to make the big jump into an exciting adventure! America needs more new blood like yours.
