Thread: ZT 0560/0561 OR CRK Small Sebenza Insingo?

ZT 0560/0561 OR CRK Small Sebenza Insingo?

Totally different makers and EDC options. I know! Not a huge price difference if I get the CRK used. Obviously the 0560/0561 is a very large folder. CRK would be perfect for EDC tasks. I currently EDC the Sage 1 or 2. Depends what mood I am in. Thinking I need something larger because I mostly have 3 inch blades or just under. I have not yet to spend below around $140 on a knife. So I am wanting that perfect grail EDC of superior F&F/quality. Never have I held or touched Chris Reeve in person. ;-) Part of me really wants an awesome ti framelock/integral lock flipper. hmm. Advice??

Very different choices between a small Seb and the ZT knives. ZT are a lot bigger and the Seb is more pocket friendly.

I own both and the ZT for the money is really too hard to pass up. You might want to check out the ZT550 too. Not a flipper but a very good folder.

    get both
    problem solved

but I think for EDC the small seb is better. Though I haven't personally handled the 560 I think it's a bit too big for EDC when you're used to the size of the sage.

OP should also check out the ZT-0350....not a framelock, but the beefiest damn liner lock I`ve ever seen.... perfect EDC size, great blade steel, tough-as-nails construction. Probably the best bang-for-the-buck out of all of `em....

^I second that^ regarding the ZT 0350....for edc purposes, the 560/561 can be a little big (but really it's up to the user, right?). I have the 560 and it's an amazing knife for the price point...but again - its large. Def not the knife you want to pull out for a task if you want to be discreet.

That being said, for edc use - and staying in the ZT family - the 0350 is a tremendous value for the price, and an all-around great little package (especially since you can get one with very nice steel options: s30v, zdp-189, combinations of different steels, etc).

Addressing your original question: for edc purposes, IMO, a small Sebbie is better suited. HOWEVER: If you can, def pick up a 560, it's a great knife.

I have a large Sebbie, had a small. The small was just a little too small to suit me. I do not have large hands, so it was the clearly the Small Sebbie that was at fault here. I encourage you to get your mitts on one, if at all possible, before buying. Of course you will get most of your $$ back if you turn around and sell a mint Sebbie. A very well-made knife, but kinda diminutive.

Thanks. Sounds good. I'll check out the 0350. I might try and trade my Sage 2 and 3 for a 0560. Might sound crazy, but some guys I know got a 0560 and it was way to big or aggressive for their tastes. Still trying to find one onling. Might take awhile.

On the small sebbie that was too little for your hands....what size are your hands? Yes, a very manly question. Ha...I'll measure mine if you measure yours.

From wearing protective non-latex gloves at work, I actually know I've got size 9 hands (or slightly bigger), and the small sebbie is way too small for me. Actually, the Large version, which I've had a few of, isn't quite as big as I like. I just had a 561 and it was just about right, but by the time I got it, I had found my perfect EDC (Tighe Nirk) and use that along with a SMF Strider, so I sold the 561. The 560's, 561's and the CRK's are excellent quality knives, but you really should handle them before wasting time on one that will be the wrong size for you. That's the only thing I expect you'll find "wrong" with either of the Sebbie's or the ZT's.
    I wish you well.

I`ve owned a few of the ZT folders, and would rate the 350 and 560/561 at the top of the heap. The 350 is about 15% smaller than the 200,300, 301, & 302, looks, feels, & carries even smaller. The nice thing about the 560s is the 3D machining of both sides of the handle, which slims them down considerably, and making them much more pocket-friendly. Liners/lockbar are heavily machined-out to cut weight to a bare minimum as well. The 561 in my pocket gets a lot of "playtime"....

I own the small Seb, small Insingo, the 350 and just got a 561.

The 561 is a great value but it is BIG -- too big for me to EDC in an urban area.

I don't use my 350. If you really want one, contact me.

The Sages represent some of the best values in production knives. I sure wouldn't be selling mine.

If you're a Sage fan, you might love the size, fit and feel of the small Seb or Insingo. The cost is another matter.

Good luck and have fun making your selection. All of these folders are wonderful.

I have the ZT 0560, and the 0551. As another poster said check out the 0550. The 0551 was a previous sprint run but is similar to the currently available 0550 except the 0550 has S35VN steel instead of Elmax, and a differnt scale pattern. The 0550 is smaller than the 0560/0561 but still larger than the small Sebbie.

While the 0560 is a large knife by comparison, I don't find it too large, nor a problem to carry in a jeans pocket. It is relatively light for its size also.

Agreed -- the 560/561 is relatively light for its size -- but it's a big knife!

I find it somewhat easier to carry than the 550/551 because of the new, deep-pocket clips -- really nice touch.

Ever think about a large Sebenza? I have a ZT 0560 and like it but it is pretty large. The price has dropped on these lately and are a great buy at around $250. I think that a small Sebenza might be a little too small and the ZT a little too large. The large Sebenza might fit the bill and only cost a little more than the 560 if you look for a nice used one. I have a ZT 0551 as well and like it but would get the 0560 if I could have only one of the two.

You are exactly right! Sold my 0560, Sage 2 & 3 to buy my first Sebenza. Going with the large. Just have to find a deal now. Hmm
