RJ, why are all the Devastators tip down?
A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus," or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice.
Good question. Early on, I was opposed to tip-up for safety reasons. Once I developed my strong detent, that concern went away.
The DEVASTATOR, because of the overlay shape, is difficult to do in tip-up carry without really compromising the look of the handle. I converted a HAVOC to tip-up for a JD member, and it was a real pita....
I am always amazed by how strong the opinions are for tip up vs. tip down. I carry knives both ways, and really don't see a difference in deployment. Each way has it's advantages and drawbacks.
For whatever reason, I like my flippers tip down, others tip up!

Thanks for the response RJ, I reckon' now that you made that extra large Devastator you can mount the clip any way you'd like since it doesn't have any scales. I've always liked tip up but when I got a Devastator I found my hand positioned at a more advantageous position for flipping, but still I'm not accustomed to the clip biting in to my hand from that position.
Here is my personal favorite:
I'm also quite fond of the looks on the JD Q-36 clips.
