So, based on what I have seen in these two clips (Ive seen nothing else and have no idea what the movie or story is about), this seems to be like Alien with the twist that in the distant past, a race was visiting various planets in the galaxy. Am I right?
But based on this, and if they had visited earth prior, how did we ever survive the encounter?

With all this info one should be able to have a better understanding/background while watching Prometheus. It's likely Scott has taken the movie in one or more of these alternate directions.

I saw a trailer for this last night during The Walking Dead and can't wait. I've always been a Alien fan and will have to see it but hope that this one does not fall short.
