I'm not an expert by any means but my first thought was I'm not sure if the smaller knife is even a Buck, AJD1. I checked out all the old Buck catalogs online and the earliest folder they show is a slipjoint stockman (1966). By my mathematical roundabout calculation from your photo, I'm guessing that smaller opened folder you have pictured is about 6 1/4" long... leading me to think it's about 3 1/4" closed? Am I close? The front bolster is not as smooth and rounded as a Buck and I don't know what that 'notch' is in the blade. I'd be interested in the markings on the base of the blade... doesn't look like a Buck marking. Can you post a clear picture of that blade marking?

Oops... did some more checking and Buck had a folder (nothing like yours) in their 1949 catalog. Then the 110 appeared in the 1964 catalog. I still think that smaller knife is not a Buck.

To tell you the truth, AJD1, I don't think Buck
stamped 'stainless' on any of their knives and
I have no idea whose mark that is on that blade.
    I'm stumped!

wish i knew who made mine, i'd recommend it highly.
its a 2001 560 (the titanium handled version) turned into an auto.
i dont think its offered anymore, since the 560 is long since discontinued.

i thought i read somewhere it was done by smkw (smokey mountain knifeworks) or cumberland? but not sure.

i thought i showed it off before, but i guess it was on another forum. its the first knife.

i also found an original / better art pic from the guy i bought it from

Even the regular ones can get pricey and i'd prefer to handle them and make sure its a quality job with no blade play.
I think your best bet is a gunshow/knifeshow. I alway seemed to run into them there.

The Buck 560 auto was a rare breed. I bought two from M & M Collectibles back in 2003... one for me and one for another 'knife nut'.
Still have my 1997 version converted by Vince Londino...
