Okay guys.... I went little vintage SOG S2 crazy lately.. I bought one a few months ago, then i bought another becuase i wanted to compare markings.. My plans were to sell the one I dont want....
Here is the deal!! The look basically the same except the OLDER ONE(which is the one where the WHITE MICARTA rings in the handle have little yellowing) has a INTERESTED blade...
I heard when SOG originally started making some of the FIRST PRODUCTION SOG S1 and S2 bowies that HATTORI's company actually HAND GROUND the blades... So it hit me, maybe this one is one of the originals??
here is why
1) The KNIFE inquestions BLADE EDGE looks almost MIRROR LIKE.. Not the tradition BLADE EDGE you see on most production knives.. This EDGE blends into the BLADE.. Does that make sense???? Also since the WHITE PART OF THE MICARTA handle has little yellowing that woul indicate its very old...
Both knives have the same SEKI-JAPAN, NAVY emblem, and SQURE SOG emblem.... But what threw me off was the BLADE EDGE that almost mirror like and blends into the blade.. Kinda like you cannot even see a sharp edge BUTTHE KNIVE is fairly sharpe..
Here are my pics sorry if they dont show much-- I withdrew it from the forsale section till i figure this out..
Could this one be hand ground?
Thx
