Like pushing the button and VOILA!

    *NOT!!!!!!*

So, a few weeks ago, another fine gentleman and myself were off on an exciting trip. I was personally invited to spend the day at RJ's place and watch him work his magic. So after Shawn Knowles and I rolled up we immediately set into motion. Cracking open the door to the shop and getting dirty.

Ok, that was a lie. RJ did all the talking, Shawn did the listening, I took the pictures and drooled a lot. In the end, we had one heck of a good day...

After he sharpened and cleaned up some other (cough*lots *cough*) of my knives I paid the man for my newest knife (at the time)

This was on Shawn's armrest as he got supplies for the trek inside and I pumped the gas so that he didn't look like a sissy!

Ron: Holy cow, when the heck did you take all those pictures?

Regarding the pics of "blade grinding" with all the sparks flying--Lies, Lies!!! Those were gratituous shots screwing around with a scrap blade. There is no actual blade grinding in my shop that produces sparks like that. Just sayin'...

Anyway, it was a really great day, actually finished a folder and looked like I knew what I was doing (which is what really matters when you have visitors!), and managed to provide needed TLC to the entire gamut of Ron's collection. Pretty nerve wracking to sharpen so many different knives in a row, but it worked out. And Betsy (my CNC) did some fine work and was on her best behavoir.

Shawn brought some killer cigars, which I am still enjoying (THANKS!!!) and no wheels exploded during the filming, which was nice.

                        Great thread. Great knife.

RJ, unknown to you, you have done me a favor. Yesterday my wife said my shop was a mess.

                        I showed her yours.

You got alot of great tools. I've never seen anything like a few of those belt grinders.

                        Thanks for the virtual lookaround.

I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

Winter: Glad I could help! I would rate the shop neatness/cleanliness at 40-50% in these photos. I was (am) in full "work mode" during the visit, during which the proprity is on getting things done and not necessarily keeping things neat. The scary thing is, I pretty much know where everything is amid the clutter. After the NYCKS, I will take a day to recoup, clean, re-organize and get ready to start the process over.

As to my grinders, they are all BADERS, except for the 6 x 48", which is an old Sears model, back when they were really good quality.
