Cooled down now after some liquid tranquilizer.
Once upon a time...
Anyway, once I was a collector of hand made pottery from around the world. Also collected rare tribal masks, but that doesn't play into tonight's fiasco.
Living in a lakeside apartment complex was sweet where everyone shared the eggs, butter, whatever was needed by just a knock on the door. A tight little community.
Ten apartments burned to the ground without a chance to remove anything, according to police authority. Pretty sickening seeing the fire spread to one's own dwelling. My clothes and an outback hat were all that survived for me
When it was safe, I was allowed to enter the ruins to look around. For three weeks the process of digging through the rubble and ashes continued, until the land was bulldozer covered. The smouldering chemical in the ashes will give you a headache from hades.
To cut to the point, exotic pottery from Japan (raku) was obliterated. No need to speak of my small library. To my surprise five pieces of pottery from a local potter survived. One was glazed by the heat into another color. The rest were still perfect.
Made my digging worth the world to me. Other items that belonged to those not to be spoken of were also found. All was okay.
Tonight three of those works of pottery met their doom. Broken by a foolish drunken nincompoop. They meant the world to me, to keep going above tragedy.
Two are left, surviving another destructive force. The lesson is driven home even more.
Let go. Focus on the important movement of Life.
Damn, that really pissed me off. :ross:

Her kids did. She was on the couch, in apt.1, sleeping off the night before while her youngins were upstairs lighting the carpet.

And now the fun begins... I went through this nightmare the Friday before Thanksgiving in 2000, The insurance company is going to want a detailed list, of EVERYTHING you owned, and how old it was, for depreciation of course :pissedevil:, and then the kicker, art, jewelry, any type of collection, is not covered under a regular policy, you need to put items as such on a rider policy. At least that's how it's done in The United Socialist Republic New Jersey. I hope your state insurance laws are friendlier than mine. Good luck SugarSkull, If you need any help, pm me.

I'll have to be the one leaving. Several offers have been made.
You know, trying to help some people just seems to get the shitty end of the stick handed to you.
She's from Britain, hence the drinking EVERY DAY.

nahh bro, I dont care if she's a British Home Owner or a South of the Tracks Hooker, she better damn well be makin it up to ya! Financially or however your creative mind can decide. Sorry for your loss.
I know it's very frustrating dealing with people under the influence of alcohol, even more-so when ur not even drinking...
and those that do partake, hold off on the red-rep. I'm not trying to badmouth ANYONE. If you're grown and want a drink, then that's your business. but if you break my shit, your gunna be held responsible (somewhat) which, i'm sure anyone in this forum would take the responsibility, and fix the issue.

I like my beer. Not until it's stumble drunk phase though. A nice BRK, another work of functional art, will help. And there are priced so well. :madaddy: Imma buying another ASAP.
Thanks for your words.

Those kids and mom left the apartments without notifying anyone.
A stranger passing by stopped and knocked on doors until someone answered, apt.3.
The guy ran to every door to notify us. His family lost more than anyone. Antiques from generations past. His wife was locked in a police cruiser to stop her from running into their apt. That was a very sad sight.
Thank you Knife Girl. You are much appreciated. Muah, in a nice sense of the word.

Sug , this eats the giant intergalactic schwantz.
You're right.........I have endured bad days , but not much that registers on the " this sucks " scale like your tale.
Any words of encouragement would be but a bandaid on this sucking chest wound of a deal you got going.
Ten deep breaths.........tha red you're seeing will fade to pink , then opaque , then gone.
And if you need anymotherfuckingthing , let me know.
Seriously.
If it is in my power , it will be done.
