start a bike shop, and have more saying in what you do, be your own boss, yeah right....
it feels more like being a butt monkey for my customers...
you got to love it... making the sales numbers good for the year in 3 months
I'm getting to old for this shit....
every thing is Back order... suppliers do not answer the phone / email...
every year the same shit... riding season has begun
shop full off work...
a friend calls , bike stopped on the high way ,
rebuild his engine last year , and did 4 k on it so far,
did run like a purring lion... was running so smooth and powerful,
i was proud i build that engine...
did a quick look, .. fucker dropped a valve at 120 mph...
the engine is a total loss. oil jet ( supposed to be under the piston ) was found in the intake manifold... with pieces off piston rattling in the exhaust...
man... i felt like closing shop.. and emigrate to Alaska bumble fuck nowhere.. toss way my phone.. and be done with civilization in general
fuck fuck fuck fuckerde fuck..shit fuck...
ok that needed to be off my chest ..
thanks....
carry on

Damn dude, sorry to hear that. This could just be a matter of a faulty part and not yours.
Doesn't take the sting out of your pride, but pride is a sin anyway:bwah:

very smart... :bwah:
gg.. lol talking down my own bisnizz
i have a simple rule off thumb,
when you go driving count the times your full trottle
if it is more than 75 % go buy a bike with 40 HP more, because the bike needs to work way to hard, and this will effect the live span.
or be prepaired to pay Harley Tax

If you close up shop , my T shirt becomes a collectors item .......right ?:bwah:
I do feel the need to do a slight correction though..........it is 1840's technology in H.D.'s
Yes........mine too.
Except for the electronic ignition.:bwah:
That was a major BOOM...........maybe you can save the cases if you're lucky.
Had to pay for a re-manned engine with less than 10K because my year warranty was up. Shop guy said it was a factory defect and nothing I did wrong. I called Milwaukee, went all the way up the chain. All I got was "it's out of warranty".

Hey Firebolt,
After about 8 - 10 years things start to get easier.
You know who you can rely on (and more importantly who you can't).
You will have good client base. The initial loans we be payed.
Truth is...If you don't love what you are doing....you won't make it.

yup tell me about it.. if there trowing the book at you.
HD has very thick books, even the Manuel from the bike is the first 30 pages liability and warnings because you will loose the warranty
but dealer- warranty policy over here.. when the dealer says it's warranty, the HD will grant this, ( most off the times )
at least that is my experience
they know what we do, and that where fucking good at it,
( even Harley staff point customers to us, because where good )

Hi Les,
8 to 10 sounds like prison :bwah:
well we started out off love for bikes and the brand we do ,
and gave up about everything to set up shop..
it is starting to pay, world wide customer base,
100 GB data a month true our web shop with specialty parts
a steady stream off work ( about 2 to 3 week full in the work shop )
we can not please everybody, but we try hard :ssmile:
after a day like today, shop full with nice customers, sunny, did some test riding,
happy customers who where very pleased with what we did,
well that is why we do it,
earn a living with making people happy with there bike
thanks, for the words

Hi Martin,
In the US at least 75% of all small business's go bankrupt in the first 5 years.
About 2% will make it to 10 years.
So the chances of starting a business and still be around in 10 years are slim and none. I'm not talking a hobby business, I'm talking a real business that pays the business and personal bills.
So it is not a prison sentence...statistically it just takes a lot of hard work.
The 10 years I had left in the Army till I retired....now that would have been a prison sentence!
Martin, I buy and sell custom knives (and make a profit...there is the sticking point for most people) every day. What a great job!

Ok, here goes,
Guy that is self employed wins the lotto, and he's being interviewed by the local news network.
The chick interviewing him says "So what have you decided to do with he money, have you any plans yet? You must be pretty excited about paying all your bills and that huh?"
The guy looks at her and sort of mumbles "yea, I could pay some bills for sure now..."
"that will be a nice change for sure".
With her winning smile in place the reporter says to him, "OK, but what about the rest, any plans at all for the rest?"
And suddenly he starts looking a bit pissed with her questions, he shoots her a shitty look and says "Fuck them! it was only a million Bucks, they can WAIT for the rest!" :demented:
I have my own business too so I totally know how you feel.
Cheers
