Spikes... Spikes... Spikes!!!

Don't ask. I walk some old 1929 Lackawana abandoned RR tracks to work, half the good weather week, for... say a decade... Drive is 2+ miles... walk is about 3/4rs mile. Much nicer view.
And so I pick 'em up.
Now I'm leaving the industrial park and... and there they are... now what? Throw them away? Not if anyone wants them.
I'm Just outside Boston... Maybe George and his group down in Lizzie Borden town.. they're local?
And how about payment by a "finally" definative (sp) word or two of what's worthwhile and what isn't? These rr ties are different in every aspect. But lots are a beautiful flat brown...
Which are good.. better best?? Or are they just a frikkin' neat but not really worthwhile metal for smiths?
I see no marks on the ones i've looked over... I hear look for HC etc...
In the words of Sgt. Schultz, "I see nothing!"
Anyway, if this is a waste of you'all's time I apologies ahead of time. I'm guessing someone can use it all. Just let me know...
thnx,
Stocky

Ralroad ties are big chunks of wood. You must be talking about railroad spikes, yes?

Very generous of you. Old RR spikes make usable blade and nice tomahawks.

Good to hear...
I hope Massachusetts guys read this...
or No.R.I. and So.N.H. which is just an hour away...
I'll hate just leaving it behind.
Lest someone here can tell me how to "cull" for a few "more" usable spikes to take with me??
I don't think this thread gets much reading? Maybe wrong placement?

Took a walk..
Threw 10 more spikes in the crate which is sitting outside my door just off rte.128 Needham MA.
These 10 came off of an almost invisible overgrown turn off rail...
They're very long as compared to most, and identical to each other.
Sitting untouched for at least 30 years.. more then likely 50 and up.

Ill take a few of those, so how does this work? Do I just pay for the shipping or are you just giving to people locally?

Anyway just let me know what's up....

Thanks much

I'll give them to you if you're in Formosa...
It's just... I don't believe it would be worth the cost of shipping for you...
though if you live on an island and can't walk aroung and pick up your own.. welll...
Point,
If you can't get them any other way I'll see what it costs to ship say 5 or six... of the healthiest,
but really???
OK... if your serious email me and maybe we can firgure it out.

Honestly, not that serious. All I saw was "free" and it had my attention. I am sure I can find some where I am.

Those nails are good to mess around with for a beginner like myself.
