After day one at the Wolverine Knife Club Show in Novi, MI, the score so far is other knifemakers, $1605.00 me $300.00. Not a problem; two of the four knives I bought were special orders that I had placed with 2 custom knifemakers (Philip Booth and Jim Downs). Philip makes gorgeous knives; he makes a coil spring mini-auto that he calls the minnow. Jim Downs makes very nice folders; he is celebrating 25 years of knife making with a special edition (25 knives) to commerate this. Mine is 04 of 25. The other knives are by JT (Jim) Downie of Canada, and Ron Welling's 12 year old grandson, CJ. Here are the pictures:

Ron Welling's 12 year old grandson made this knife (5-5" Blade, 5.5" handle):

Is it wrong for me to be jealous of a 12 year olds talent?
Probably.

That minnow is absolutely cool.
Great pickups.

Probably under most situations, but in this case, no. Be jealous...the kid makes terrific knives.

I agree there, I have seen plenty of knives made by much older makers that would be put to shame for that kids talent.

And Booth does make some cool mini's. Nice pics :TOB:

Only 2 customs today me hearties, a Jim Siska stag handle w/Jerry Rados damascus blade and a Roger "Mudbone" Jones stag and horse rasp beavertail knife with alligator inlaid sheath. I traded 2 knives (total cost $485) for the Siska; the Mudbone knife was completed entirely without the use of power tools! Diane, my ex-wife, delivered a new table banner for me too...

Very, very cool. Love that minnow. Reminds me of my "Piglet" from Bill Ogden.

And I'm always a big fan of Jim Siska's work. Nice, nice grabs there.
