Dammit. I just heard one of the all time great rock songs by one of the all time great bands (check the title topic :whip: ) being used to sell something. And what is it being used to sell?!? A Fing BUICK! I mean Aerosmith is old enough to be driving buicks w/ blue hair but wtf. Marketing escapes me sometimes.

well i have another thing like that. there is a car commercial where the song playing in the background is the one that goes like "i don't mind you coming here wasting my time". they don't play that part of it but come on! why even use that song for a customer based company? i agree with you benny, marketing boggles me too.

I feel your pain man! When they used one of the greatest songs of all time (Bob Segar's "Like a Rock") to sell Chevys I was pissed. It's a sacrilidge. There's another one that just started recently too. I could probably remember, but I don't want to. :cuss:

That's not the same. Fuck the artists. It's the SONGS, man! They take you back. They MEAN something to people. (And they DON'T mean buy our [*insert thing here*].)
There are people out there who WRITE jingles for products. USE 'em!

That one kinda makes be laugh because it makes me think that the heads that used to listen to Zep and smoke dope behind the school are driving Cadillacs now...
...well, some of them anyway. :-D

Just because the songs are used doesn't necessarily mean that the Artists have "Sold Out". Pisses me off, too. But consider, they use the songs to catch our attention, because we are the target of their sales campaign. I hate being a "target":thefinger :thefinger :thefinger
