I'm the guy from Hong Kong who has his balisword up on eBay and Bladeforums. :) The balisword would make a great backpack sword--flip it open and it almost doubles in length. I remember flipping mine open in the airport in Cebu a few months ago. The cops loved it. They asked me why I had trainers, and I said for arnis. They asked me why I had the sword, and I opened it and latched it. They backed off and went "whoa" when I flipped it open. lol. Definitely not the most concealable blade, but as far as portable swords go, they're pretty good.
