I can never leave well enough alone. I have the finest example of a Cuda Maxx that I've ever held, and I've held several, in regards to lock-up, centered blade, even anodization, and action. So the other day I decided that this edc need some modification in the looks department.
The first step was simple enough....disassembly. The next step was to boil some water, get some towels and deliver the beautiful little MICRO-MAXX :doublefu: :doublefu: You wish! Back to the mods though. I took a pyrex dish and put a couple of scoops of Oxy-Clean in the dish and poured the boiling water in. I placed the handle halves in and let them sit for an hour. Before hand I had thouroughly washed those handles to remove any oil. While I had it down I polished up the screws, pivot, standoffs, and the blade tang at the pivot point. I also polished up a set of bronze washers to replace the teflon ones. After an hour I removed and washed the handles. A perfect gray in color with some spotting on them. Using "Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish" I polished the handles removing the spots and ended up with a satin medium gray color that looks GREAT in my opinion. Put it all back together and ended up with as perfect a MAXX as I started off with. The polished screws, pivot, and standoffs really look good against the gray. Finished it off by tying a laynard using some of the gray paracord I got from TAD.
Just a little something to do while it rained!!
btw, I had outfitted the MAXX with a deep carry clip. Being steel the clip would not color. I took a hand held torch though and fixed the problem by doing some heat coloring and now have a nicely matched clip that doesn't stick out and is barely noticable.
DON"T EVEN ASK.........................I AM D.C.
