All the standard materials?? That blood groove looks like I would break suction like no other!! Any chance of a black coated blade?? :nana:
I REALLY like this model!! I need a good hunting knife.
Mike, for big game (IE. Deer), what model would you say is your favorite for hunting? Just curious
Mike Stewart
02-25-2006, 08:03 PM
Jason,
My personal favorite of our line for most hunting is the Fox River.
For really big game--like Elk and Moose that you have to quarter in the field--The gameskeeper.
Better blade for poppin' joints.
The Teddy is a larger knife and will handle the large game situations and most camp chores too.
I'm anxious to see wayne's review of it.

I'm really liking that knife. The one problem I see though is with the sheath. The strap is gonna' get cut up removing the knife from the sheath. Any chance of that sheath maker changing his mind on that design Mike?
Regardless of the sheath the knife looks pretty damn rugged and should get some extra cash available I'll definitely pick on up. What handle choices would we have?
Mike Stewart
02-26-2006, 10:45 AM
Ken,
The strap does flop out of the Way.
I don't think we are going to have a Problem.
The Sheath was designed by Custom Sheathmaker Mike T.
He is at the top of the Custom Sheath Game and is a member here on the devil.
The Actual Production is being done By Bogdan's crew in Serbia.
The quality of these sheaths is right up there with most of the top leather folks.
You will like the package.
We wil have a couple of these at one of the Club Meetings in the near Future.

Mike,
I was checking out DLT, and saw there will be two teddy's; the teddy and the Teddy Hunter...what is the diiference between the two? In the pic on DLT, the blade on the Hunter looks longer....
Mike Stewart
03-03-2006, 07:51 PM
T,
The Hunter version has no Top Quillion on the guard.
It only has the lower Quillion.
Here is a Teddy Hunter in Sambar Crown Stag.
http://barkriverknives.com/albums/album87/Teddy_Hunter_Sambar_Crown.jpg
All else is about the same. We do take a little off the top of the blade to blend it in to the face of the guard but................
Since all of them are hand done--there will be small differences from knife to knife.
We will be making a lot more of these in the next week or two.

Thanks,
I did want to throw something in here about the Antique Ivory Micarta.
A lot Traditional Period Knives actually did have Genuine Elephant or Walrus Ivory as an optional handle.
I have seen a lot of them over the Years.
We Switched from the White Paper Micarta to the new Antique Ivory the minute it became avalible.
The bottom line is you have to look --and the feel real Ivory--It is the right color but----It's Micarta.
That means you have to look of the fragile Original in a handle material that is virtually indestructable.
