Im pretty sure i already know the answer to this, but hey ive been surprized before! I have a BM 24 balisong, and ive had it since it came out, i also just recently bought the last one in the local gunshop for the original retail price
(:devil1:$200!!) The owner had no idea Benchmade discontinued the model....
anyway that one I will keep in the box untouched/flipped/breathed on ect.maybe even in a bank vault? atleast for the next few years until the 42's really dry up like all the other BM 4x models do. Anyways the one ive had for the last 5 years now im getting bored with the silver and i am thinking about Anodizing the handles using a method i read online (And have excuted sucessfully before on a Titanium mountin bike frame). Basically Im wondering if A) will this reduce its value (And if so will it reduce it dramatically?) and B) once Anodized, is there a way to Undo the anodization of the Titanium(If so, does anyone know how to un-anodize titanium??) any constructive advice would be appriciated! i got alittle type happy on this one.:ross:

Well, I have no idea on how anodizing will effect the integrity of the value. However, I can tell you that by handling the knife, the anodizing will slowly wear off. I'm sure a light sanding could remove it also...

Do it just to piss off a collector. It's your knife!

if the knife has been used over 5 years annodizing it isnt going to dramatically decrease the value from its already used state.
flame annodizing is simple to remove with some very very light sanding or even just polishing compound has worked for me in the past.

Hi,
Anodizing is an electro-chemical process that creates a coating of oxide on the surface of the metal. The only way to remove it is sanding. If you decide to anodize prepare the surface to your desired finish first as the anodizing will not hide any flaws.
As for the value, please yourself if you do a good job it will probably look good to someone else as well.
Hope that helps.
