Hiya All,

I just wanted to throw this out and see what shit will stick to the wall :devilzeek

I am OVERJOYED that we here at the JD have our very own Bali forum !!!
Here is the reason for my CAUTION title ;

As I have posted before , I have been shooting IPSC/IDPA/Steel Challenge/ 3 Gun/2nd Chance Pins/SASS/Cowboy Action etc. etc. for over 25 years and in EVERY action shooting "sport/game" I have seen the same damn thing occurs again and again.

After a small amount of time -- there seems to be a "split" among the competitors/players/friends that becomes " them or us" !!!!

In the early days of IPSC shooting {way before IDPA was born } , it evolved into two camps --- the "Gamers" who used/carried Highly Moded firearms and prayed to the likes of Rob Leatham/Brian Enos etc. and the "Martial Artist" who used mostly Stock Factory guns and prayed to the likes of Jeff Cooper/Chuck Taylor.

The above info is JUST A EXAMPLE and I have seen the same type of thing happen again and again and again !!!

So I say " UNITED WE STAND " as Bali LOVERS !!!

I have seen Balis posted here by members that cost AT LEAST $5000 and will NEVER be flipped or carried. To those that own/collect them , YOU ARE MY BALI-BROTHER IN ARMS !!!

I have seen videos posted here of members doing AMAZING MANIPULATIONS such as aerials and "behind the back" etc. flipping -- To those that do these kind of things , YOU ARE MY BALI-BROTHER IN ARMS !!!

I have seen posts by members who carry a Bali for EDC because they only have one hand/arm --- To those that do , YOU ARE MY BALI-BROTHER IN ARMS !!!

I have seen posts by members who carry a Bali for self-defense and put in many hours of training with it. To those that do , YOU ARE MY BALI-BROTHER IN ARMS !!!

And I have seen posts/photos of members "$15 good for shit but it's all I got"
Balis . And to them also , YOU ARE MY BALI-BROTHER IN ARMS !!!

Let us NOT degenerate into the "EDC's vs. Flippers vs. Collectors" etc.etc.
So in closeing , this Old Guy{OG} says this ---- There Is Room For Every Bali Lover here , no matter what little nich they prefer.

I agree totally. No need to split up and form groups. JD seems like
a good place where people appreciate all aspects of knives/balis/flipping,
whatever. Given the culture I don't see that happening here. Saw a
little of that start over at Bladeforums, but never really got out of hand.
I do hope that some of the non bali people get interested in balis and some
of the non-flippers start to test the waters in manipulation because of the
balisong alliance.

Birdman, Truly a great post. As I have been a knife collector since childhood, Interest in Bali's since my late teens, never a serious flipper, but love the mechanical aspect of things in general, Bali's were a natural knife of interest for me. Both for EDC and collecting, My hands seem to not want to learn to flip with any amount of skill, yet I feel a kinship with ALL people that have interest in the Bali knives.

we in the bali community are said to have more "hardcore meltdowns than busse fanboys." now i've never heard of a busse meltdown, but i have seen actual death threats fly a few times by some of the bali guys. we true bali enthusiasts need to keep a cool head and not degenerate threads into flame wars. i know basically none of us over at the Alliance are guilty of this, and we do have a tendency to mow down assweeds that come here, which i like. we have to remember not to feed the trolls to keep our reputation intact. i know here and at the arena this rarely ever happens, but on other forums that shall remain nameless, threads degenerate on a daily basis. so i know we can hold our shit together over here to keep the JDBA's rep spotless and as badass as it currently is. http://www.brokenbrains.us/arena/images/smilies/pirate_TU.gif

for me it boils down to the fact that known or not TONS of effort has gone into trying to move this sport forward from myself and several others. It been a morass of dickweeds and keyboard commandos with just about everything UNproductive you could imagine, and as a few of us have stuck with this for a long time we grow ever short on patience and time to deal with non productive shittaking douchebags who want to critize but never show any skills or lend anything productive to the balisong community. the JD is blessedly free of the aforementioned douchebaggery and may it forever be so...

Many ppl know me and can substantiate this next statement: I never said NO to a challenge, I never did anything but give to this community and I wont take any crap from some weekend warrior who thinks that now that he can do a y2k hes god. I wont cow-tow to anyone who has a drawer full of safe queens or who tapes their blades and wouldnt know the first thing about the HOURS of practice it takes to not only master the current trick landscape but INVENT tricks that are instrumental to the furtherance of our sport. I wont heistate to expunge anyone who does something thats counterproductive to the end goal of where I (and others ) believe the art of balisong manipulation is headed.



I do think of this as a brotherhood, full of respect and with a fair ammount of Excellent persons involved with it as a hobby... and I dont heistate to rally around that sense of brotherhood and common interest in what I feel is an excellent hobby... one that takes skill and dedication to attempt to master. There has been healthy competition which has driven folks to new tricks and combos that as an aficionado I find MINDBLOWING we are really pushing the envelope...

so if you dont want to be part of that and you want to be a mouthy dickstain then I have no sympathy to you getting lit up in a challange or on a forum so you can be exposed for the jealous hater you are.

if you are on the other side of the coin however you can count on me for anything you could count on a brother for.

They really need to not be ashamed of their Footwear.

We - of the JD - will accept strange footwear and they need to know that.

The only logical Conclusion one can make is that all real Bali Enthusiasts wear Clown Shoes.

Try to remember that their Hovercrafts are filled with eels.

Eel's in the hovercraft has been a long time thorn in the side of the bali enthusiast, maybe someday someone will come up with a better way to carry one's eels to market, and I guess a good eel knife (Mike, can ya help us?) would help immensely.

Leader, or no, there are some of us, yes old folk, who would consider Loosey as a complete newb when it comes to time spent in the balisong community. The eighties seem not so far away for a few of us. Dawkind, Sniperboy, Mykyl (where are you now my friend), Navajo ............ the list goes farther were some of the foundation, well, yea, enter Gollnick in there just for the insane collection and research, but he's still kind of green. :madaddy: The "Old Guard" is still around.
