If you were following the Previous Thread on Knifeforums--This is the Persian We talked about making.

The Bosnian Skinner

http://barkriverknives.com/albums/2/Bosnian_Skinner_Proto.jpg

I Selected the name because I was inspired by MY Good Friend Senad.

He explained to me that this shape is very traditional in that Region. We also are both about the same age and most of us in that age bracket used Trailing Points in our young days.

Senad and I have a lot in common for two old guys that live on different sides of the globe.

These Persian Style Blades were Common all through Eastern Europe and were both a Fighter and a Field Knife.

Senad is a Veteran of the Bosnian Conflict and he fought on the same side as the U.S. Troops and Contractors. He was injured and still carries the wounds of Battle. He is a True Friend and True Friends are not easy to find today.

This knife is a Tribute To Him and To our Friendship.

We already have a bunch of orders on these.

Blade Length: 5.43 Inches

thank guys,

parker here is Black & Green.

http://barkriverknives.com/albums/album80/Bosnian_Skinner_Blk_Grn_Linen_Solid.jpg

I just went through all the pictures and we have not make one in Green G-10, jade G-10 or Green Black & Pistacio.

I don't have a source for the Green Tiger G-10.

If you know where other makers get it--I would love to know.

If you let me know who uses it--I'll call and see if they will share the source.

I'll do a couple on Monday. I'll do the Jade and the G,B & P.

they will look nice and I should have made them anyway.

I'll post them as soon as they are finished.

Mike, that sure is purty - I really like the design a lot - reminds me a whole bunch of an older Olsen OK I've got around here somewhere. If it's mine, I would seriously sheath it up in a little Kydex and hit two spots with a palm sander and this baby's good to roll.

That Jade green may well be calling my name, like a jade-handled Randall 14 but obtainable, right?

Now about that green tiger G10 - I figured you knew about - I thought I saw it in your list of handles ;) No worries about it then and if I find something like this I'll drop you an email about it.

Mike: I appreciate the nice work you show, and the helpful educational opportunity of talking to you about your knives. Your use of the term "trailing point" inspired me to try to look it up. I guess you mean the sweep of the blade, the curve away from the cutting edge? The point "trails" the blade? Or is there any more specific meaning?

Any time I encounter a term I haven't seen or haven't thought much about, I do look it up to get my terms right. But, I did not find the term in any of the knife glossaries I looked at. I did find many "trailing point" knives advertised or pictured, and they were generally slightly curved back like that. Most of them were less so than this knife - which by the way is beautiful.

Is that a term that is so commonly used for this that nobody figures it needs to be in a glossary?

I'm not asking you to do research for me... simple yes/no answers, or what you know off the top of your head is fine, but if you have further comments I am all ears.

The use of Trailing Point in Knife Terms origianlly meant an upswept Point -- in relation to the Back Spine.

In other words--The point was above the line of the Spine.

Now it seems to mean--any knife with a curve to the point--no matter where the point ends up.

A Randall Number Three is a Trailing Point by the old Definition--So Was the old Shrade--Golden Spike-- but any Sweeping line to the point--with a matching Spine Curve--regardless of the location of the point is now called Trailing Point.

Informative... thanks. Terms and meanings do seem to change over time with usage.

The "parole" of language, not to be confused with release from prison, although, maybe it is? A release from old meanings into new ones.
