I was checking that out. It sounds like it could be an awesome weapon. Getting back the firepower of the M-60 and LIGHTER than the M-249 (SAW)

Hmm... an improvement on the MAG (lighter) and the MINIMI (caliber). Must be good! (Oh, and for you Americans, MAG = GPMG = M240 and MINIMI = M249)

The MK 48, made by FN Manufacturing LLC, was first adopted by Navy SEAL teams in 2000.

Seems hardly "new". Makes ya wonder what they're actually working on today that is still classified... :devilzeek :gunner:

The Mk48 has been issued to select units for quite a few years now. Mostly those falling under the Socom umbrella and fast moving Infantry/Airborne types. I've fired many a round down the barrel of one of those- pretty damn cool.
