5 days left!
Controversial six-day bear hunt begins in New Jersey
12/05/05) CHESTER TOWNSHIP - A controversial six-day bear hunt began at sunrise Monday in New Jersey.
The season aims to thin a growing population of black bears in the Garden State. The hunt is restricted to an area of approximately 1,600 square miles in the state’s northwest corner. Hunters are required to use shotguns or old-fashioned muzzle-loading rifles. There are five checkpoint stations within the hunting zones in Morris County, Sussex County and Warren County.
Animal welfare groups say the hunt is cruel and unnecessary. Two animal rights groups sued to stop the hunt, but lost in two courts Friday. The Animal Rights Alliance and the Bear Education and Resource Group plans to take their case to the state Supreme Court, claiming the bear management plan is flawed.

I wonder how that Bear Education Group has done. Bears are very difficult to have show up for classes.

God dam anti's, fuck them, I'm a big time hunter and come from a long standing family of them, my boys also hunt. We eat what we kill, we waste nothing. My family as well as millions of others pour milllions of dollars into widlife preservation and etc.... And these fuck anti's pour zero if any into widlife, but have the nerve to say hunters do nothing for wildlife. The best thing to regulate and manage any animal population is hunting, its the cheapest and most functional tool to use.
But the anti's want to chew up your tax dollars on sharpshooters with contraception in it, or move them to the mid-west where there more open ground, once again using your tax money.
Now way back when, I happen be talking to a women one day, who telling me all about her husband a big big big time home builder/designer of huge housing developments and how she was worried about him not getting enough work because of the new open space laws/rules that have come about. She went on to say that she and others who have husbands in very high home building positions have joined the PETA and Anti-Hunting non-sense, because if there no more hunting than the state will not need all this land to hunt or save for outdoorsmen especially hunters They will have to start to sell these huge land masses, and my husband and his huge company will be first in line to buy it all up.
Now, I got a little pissed and ended the conversation with that's nice, I like hunting and I'm a hunter, well she was dumb struck and speechless as I left.
Now I got a little more investigative and sure enough at the time, ya 45% of the anti's members were bonified save the animals and tree hugger, the other 55% growing well funded and money backers of these organizations were lone and behold huge land developers and major CEO's of housing developments, go figure
It's not about saving animals for most of them its about, staying rich and keeping little miss yuppie and the yuppie kids happy with mucho money
Like the bitch said---If there no more hunting, than the land just can't go to waste, we'll get to build on it
Not if i have a say it lady:eekfinger :eekfinger :eekfinger :eekfinger

wow, i never thought about PETA being a cover to keep those bastards rich. I thought it was just a bunch of smelly annoying hippie fuckers whose mothers never fed them breast milk because they found it to be cruel to animals.:idunno:

ya that what I thought until I happen upon this bitch, and what she said regarding her husband businees issues.
Now that was some time ago and I'm sure the % are probably still close today or at least people like her who are still apart of these org's with a different agenda.

Grim, I think your lady friend is full of bullshit. So because a woman told you so, it MUST be true right? Please, don't be ignorant.
I'm not anti hunting in the least. I don't want my world to be taken over by deer or other animals but I certainly would get violent if faced with someone who hunts just to hunt. Meaning that they don't eat what they shoot and/or they just strip it for the skin/bone/ivory. I believe that this hunt is HIGHLY unnecessary. Am I to believe that alot of these bears cannot be transported to another area? Surely, if people like yourselves and many others give so much money to perservations, there must be some place for them to go instead on a fucking wall or laid in piles somewhere like they're useless atoms just taking up space. With all of our technologies and animal transportation systems in the world today, shooting them simply "to thin a growing population of black bears" is an ASSHOLE excuse to shoot your fucking guns. Call me an anti, smelly, annoying, hippy fucker, but I stand by my point in that this world is big enough to share. Fuck those people.

eh i am sure you smell good pumpkin, but you were in jersey, it is much easier to just let the people kill a bear or two than to go around and blast away their neighbors. Then our already over taxed dollars will really gt a work out. :punish:

BULLSHIT!!!!!:banhammer :banhammer
Hey like I said at the time, when I did a little research into it, the general make-up was high level or people connected to high land developers, So don't be calling me ignorant, I did my duligence, and her story for the most part checked out!!!!!!
Sorry your not spending my already spread thin tax money on yuppie feel good crap, so you can sleep better at nite knowing the animals are ok. And no they world isn't big enough to share, when we keep taking land to build fucking malls on every street corner so you yuppies can get your shopping fix. To add to this I'm not from NJ originally, but it seems to be the NJ way to pon the states crap and problems off to the gov't or to some other state where they will have to pay for our problem. Sorry, but hunting has always been the most practical means of game control. So if you want to spend your money--- not mine on tech... for animals knock youself out go ahead and write out a check, but using my tax money for unproven tech..., NO WAY
oh, and by they way I don't need any excuse to fire my weapons, I can go to the range anytime I so desire Furthermore, a 300 pound bear or a 130 pound deer goes a long way food wise in my house.
So, Pumpkin I consider you pretty cool people so I end this by
We'll agree to disagree and leave it at that!!!!

I think we have gotten a little off track here.
I do believe that a lot of Green and Animal Movements or Organizations have alterior motives and we might find that some prohunting and pro-habitat folks might too-- but that really is not the issue at hand.
This thread is actually about a species that has overtaken it's habitat and is causing a problem.
Moving Bears has never worked by moving them a few hundred miles away into less populated areas.
The Black Bear is not like a Deer that lives it's whole like in a couple of Square Miles. Bears range in cycles that can literally be a couple of hundred miles.
You also have to realize that if you move Bears into a seemingly remote area--it probably already has it's own populalation of Bears and you would defeat you intended purpose by causing those bears to have to expand their range to have sufficient food.
Moving Bears from One state to another is now allowed. You may not move a species between states without a HUGE inter-state program the most States will not allow.
In every case that Hunting was stopped on a large Species in this country--We have ended up with damaged property and in the case of Carnivours--People being atttacked and killed.
The Mountian Lions of California are the perfect example and we are now facing the same problem with the Brown Bears in Wyoming--and Montana.
Any species that is threatened with extinction should be highly regulated--maybe with seemingly drastic measures. I agree with that.
Once the threat is passed and the species has recovered--Hunting--in a very controlled way needs to be re-opened.
This is very easy to do. You issue permits in the number you want the species reduced and you have a win-win situation.
We do that with ELK--right here in Michigan.
The only alternative is exactly the one you would want to avoid.
The state would HIRE--PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS--They hunt at night--with high powered rifles and Silencers. The meat is usually wasted and they are paid a bounty for reducing the number of the Species. To get thier money--they only turn in the head of the Animal.
I have seen it done right here in Michigan and also in Wisconsin and Wyoming.
I have seen it done in Africa on the very species that Animal rights extremeits have clammored to protect.
You can't have it both ways.
The very situation you want to avoid is the result of not re-opening a season on an overpopulated species.
It has been proven over and over that controlled hunting is far better than Paid Slaughter.

Well put Mike! :yeahthat:
Hunting helps more large game animals than it hurts. Brings in funding for habitat development, brings awareness of species population concerns, basicly hunters are at the fore-front of species conservation. :usa:

First of all, since when do you know me enough to call me a "yuppie"? I am absolutely 100% against what you are referring to so your point, to me, is now completely disregarded. If you would like to disagree, that's fine, who doesn't like a good debate? Although refrain yourself from assuming you know me because you are about as far off as one can be.
